  Personality: Katja first comes off as reserved, but generally friendly. She is a little awkward and often seems unsure of herself when trying to have a normal conversation. She tries to get along with others, or at least be able to work with them. She doesn’t like getting into fights or arguments with others and will often just give up if someone tries to start one with her. Though she is quiet and not the most socially aware, she likes being around other people. She especially likes playing cards with them, an interest she picked up during training. Katja enjoys card tricks as well, and attempts learning them during downtime.
  
  Katja hates disappointing others, especially her mother. She can be seen as a ‘dog’ by some of her comrades due to her lack of will and desire to please others. She will follow orders given to her to a great extent, usually disregarding if they are unreasonable. Katja’s main reason for joining the Survey Corps is her mother, who instilled in her that true heroes go beyond the wall. Katja believes this as well, but does not desire to be a hero. She only wants her mother’s approval. In order to achieve this, Katja is willing to do anything.
  
  Though she has few strong opinions of her own, Katja respects people who do. She doesn’t see herself as a person who is able to have such opinions or express them. Katja dislikes when people press her for her opinion, and often gives what she believes her mother would want to hear instead of her own thoughts. She does have her own opinions on certain subjects, but doesn’t like giving them.
  
  Around people she likes, Katja is a little more cheerful, but still remains reserved. She worries about saying something wrong and making people mad, so she lies or tells half truths to keep the water calm. When accused of lying, she has difficulty admitting it and will try her best to keep people from getting angry with her.
  
  Deep down, Katja desires to escape her mother and live for herself rather than someone else. However, her mother has a tight hold on her emotionally and she has difficulty even thinking about severing ties. She doesn’t like to tell people this and feels guilty about it. If Katja had a choice, she would have wanted to be a violinist. She learned a little as a child, but hasn’t practiced since joining the military.
