Kier

Introduction

• A curmudgeonly old Scottish fairy, with incredible stories and secrets to share if only you can crack his shell.

• What do your pages mean?

  I enjoy playing with Kier at many stages of his life. Each page represents one of those stages. They are labeled with years reflecting the real-world time periods I generally associate those stages of his life with, though are subject to some adaptation depending on the story I'm using him in. I generally set things on Earth (with a fantasy twist), but Kier can easily be adapted to fit fantasy worlds of medieval or renaissance style.
  
  The remainder of this page will consist of some basic pieces of information for Kier, ones that do not change for the other stages of his life.

• The very basics

  • Voice: Low, gruff, often with an animalistic sort of growl to it

• Personality

  Short-tempered, cold, and distant, Kier is difficult to get along with. Granted, he generally prefers his solitude, because he is very slow to give out his trust to anyone. He is easily offended, can be quite paranoid, and is prone to making enemies out of people over the very slightest of disagreements, or even in the absence of any disagreement at all.
  
  He actually holds quite a low opinion of himself, but for the way he acts you wouldn't know it. Fairies are notoriously arrogant, and he seems to be no exception. He can be very vocal about the superiority of his race to others.
  
  Despite his many faults, he has a sympathetic side that anyone can easily find if they spend enough time with him. Once his trust has been earned, he proves to be loyal and occasionally even kind, but it will always require a great deal of patience to put up with his temperamental personality.

• Abilities

  Kier is built to be a predator. He can see as well in the dark as in the day, can hear minute sounds otherwise inaudible to the human ear, and his sense of smell is uncanny.
  
  He is supernaturally fast, rivaling even race horses with a maximum speed of up to fifty miles an hour. Even at high speeds he is exceptionally agile, able to weave and duck through obstacles and react swiftly to attack.
  
  His combat ability is exceptional, with centuries of practice under his belt. He favors polearms and swords throughout his life, but the older he grows, the wider his repertoire becomes.

• Fairies

  Note for anyone who wants to use their own fairy characters

  I will not rp with any characters that conflict with my lore. Kier's character is very dependent on the characteristics of my version of the fairy race, so introducing things like winged fairies would undermine everything about him and his backstory. I am happy to work out an rp setting that accommodates anything from dragons to vampires to just about anything you can think of, but fairies are off the table (unless they follow my strict rules, which would require a lot of discussion since what you can see here about them is only a fraction of what I have on my fairies).
  Anyway, below is an overview of my fairies.

  
  
  Fairies are fantastical creatures that appear almost identical to human beings. Yet, as they are glad to boast, they are very unlike humans.
  
  Fairies originated in what we might today call an alternate dimension. This place, whose name we can closest approximate as "Vey-a-re", is steeped in magic. Every fairy is closely tied to the magic of Vey-a-re, even though many of them have taken up residence in the human world. Most can channel Vey-a-re's energy to perform magic of their own, and they make talented sorcerers (though, unfortunately, Kier happens to be completely inept when it comes to sorcery).
  
  Fairies can live indefinitely, barring mortal injury or illness. They naturally egotistical creatures. You would be hard-pressed to find a fairy who didn't believe he was more important than every other living creature alive. Their ego is one of their greatest weaknesses. Despite often being much more intelligent than human beings, their arrogance will drive them to do unwise things.
  
  Fairies also tend to be mischievous. In the worst of fairies, this results in conniving, sadistic behavior, designed to give the fairy pleasure through human misery. In the best of fairies, this results in light-hearted pranks (which may or may not actually end well for the recipient of the prank).
  
  Fairies have a universal weakness to iron. Pure iron, whatever its shape, is poisonous to them. Under certain circumstances, contact with iron can lead to death. Other ways to kill a fairy are what you might expect would kill a human being: blood loss, damage to vital organs, etc. That said, fairies generally have a higher rate of survival from grievous injury than human beings would, since their bodies tend to heal more efficiently and effectively than humans, and their magic is fairly good at fighting off infections and disease. (But if they have iron poisoning, injuries will be much slower to recover and otherwise non-threatening diseases can become a problem.)
  
  Kier has a "subspecies", of a sort. He is a type of fairy referred to as a "maneater". Maneaters, as their name implies, eat human beings. No other food will sustain them. While they may be able to fill their stomachs with other food, it is essentially like eating dirt to them, in both flavor and nutritional content. A maneater will typically eat a whole grown adult in one sitting, in only a few hours (That this is physically possible can only be attributed to the magic inherent to fairies). However, after eating they do not need to eat again for six days, at the least.
  
  All maneaters have red eyes and pointed teeth. They also all have a set of abilities designed to make them excellent hunters. They have excellent nocturnal vision, to see clearly with even the smallest amount of light. They also possess unnatural speed, to outrun even a horse and rider. Finally, they have uncanny senses of hearing and smell, to help them seek out their prey.

  Deadly violence follows Kier everywhere, as you may have realized. When roleplaying with him, expect impalement, dismemberment, blood and gore, the eating of human corpses, and more. I like to think I write these things pretty tastefully, though, without unnecessarily detailed description. I'll only describe enough to get the point across, not enough to make you feel like you're reading a Texas chainsaw massacre script.
  
  Kier will swear on occasion, but he does more of his communicating through scowls and glares, so you shouldn't hear a whole lot of obscenities out of him. Every now and again.
  
  Even Kier can use a little romance sometimes. He can be enticed into a relationship with females of humanoid appearance (humans, elves, other fairies, etc), though he actually vastly prefers humans to anything else. I will not begin any RP with the sole intention of hooking Kier up. If the characters have chemistry, it'll happen.
  
  If anything does happen, I expect description of any "private playtime" to be non-graphic. Gloss it over. Be tasteful. I really don't need to know the ins and outs of it all (Pun SO intended). We may draw the line at slightly different places, so if my line is looser than yours, please be communicative if I start to cross your line.
  
  I don't mind Kier getting hurt, or even killed. I don't really need consent, just make sure it's got a point if you'd like to cause him injury: that it's interesting and adds to the plot. I don't care for random. "Just because" is a poor excuse.
