• Description

  Lucius hides his distress at life behind a thick curtain of sarcasm and wit. Preferring to turn questions away with an insult or quip about the inquisitors personal attire or body. Never one to not show off he can often be found flaunting his own personal wealth or his magical abilities. You can normally tell the mage from far off by his colorful clothing and his staff or orb. He dresses only in the best and refuses anything else.

• Biography

  Born in Garancia, a Kingdom founded on the tip of a peninsula, Lucius was the son of the Kings high-magister. The king looked to his magister for advice on magic and the realm itself, the two having been friends since birth, rumor even saying the magister was the kings bastard brother. It was known since the time of his birth that Lucius would inherit his fathers magical ability, the magister had had four daughters before Lucius was born, none bore his mark of magic except Lucius. As he reached a year old he was taken from his mother to the college of mages in the hold of the king, he would remain in this world until the age of ten. He emerged a child of extreme bearing and manner, his ability with magic surpassing even his father, the kingdom celebrated, but the family itself secretly mourned. The magister had had twins but only one of the boys had survived, Thomas. The boy was weak in his body, the clerics though he would never stand for his legs were so weak. There was talk of ending the babes misery but Lucius's mother would have none of it, and so the boy would be raised in secret. Lucius grew into a better and better mage, learning state craft, fashion, strategy, astrology, and several other minor arts that the Garancian nobles thought a young man should know. He took the most pleasure out of archaeology and the creation of magical items, often creating and peddling off potions to the court's ladies. His brother however grew up in a state of misery, eventually being called the house servant the boy crawled everywhere and barely could manage to eat. Lucius took pity on the lad and in time devised a back-pack that allowed him to carry his smaller brother across the realm going on great adventures with him. Seeing his prized son travelling so much the magister thought it best to assign him a guard, and so he purchased the services of a northern Garancian boy, Caellum. This white haired youth was a squire and the magister promised him knight hood should he keep Lucius safe until his eighteenth birthday, which was a mere five years from his date of hire. At first Lucius and Thomas disliked Caellum following them everywhere, but in time they grew used to the boy and allowed him to join their ranks. The three boy explorers conquered the realm that was known to them, no hill to high, and no cave to long. Caellum the silent guardian, Thomas their navigator and Lucius the care free overly dressed talker, always cracking witty comments and jokes. It may have been time spent together or the inevitably of fate, but as they grew Caellum and Lucius fell deeply in love, their adventures with Thomas turning into teenage sexual escapes. Such behavior was unwelcome though in Garancia, homosexuality considered a sign of weakness and morally corrupt souls. Lucius was promised on his eighteenth birthday to the kings daughter, and expected within the year to marry her, and begin providing heirs. The entire year leading up to his wedding was spent in disarray, as the soon to be royal couple was trodden across the realm to meet every minor lord and lady. Caellum was left behind for this journey the boy given his knight hood and pressed into the service and the war in the south, returning only in the month of Lucius's wedding. The three boys united one last time at this ceremony, Thomas a groomsman, Caellum Lucius's best man, and Lucius a reluctant groom. Striding down the isle the magister son, soon to be prince saw the world about him, the snotty courtiers, the rich fat barons, and the lazy knights that prefer to send boys like -his- Caellum off to war rather then fight it themselves. He began to weep and shake, and before he made it to the podium fell to the ground in utter agony of it all, giving into the blackness of the void of unconsciousness. When he woke his father stood over him, Thomas chained to a chair beside them. His father had known of him and his lad, had known of Caellum and sent the boy south again to war, to die he thought. His father thought Lucius would out grow his homosexuality but now he would ensure it so he could gain the kings favor and instill his family line into the royal blood. Drawing power from the old and denounced blood magic he slit poor Thomas's throat and attempt a ritual to change the way Lucius thought, to burn away his personality and mold something new. Lucius become enraged at his brother death and at the magic coursing over him, and something was unleashed in his magical blood, breaking the bonds that held him he stood, waves of magic rolling from him that cracked the foundation of the room they were in and send stone bricks spilling off into the night. His father stood in awe of his son he thought weaker then he, able to be molded as his own flesh peeled from his very face as the waves of magic struck him. The tower they stood in, his father, the cliff the tower stood all washed away under his rage, his tears, and his sadness...all the remained when he opened his eyes was the patch of land he was standing on and poor Thomas. Weeping he buried his dear brother erecting a crystal tomb that would prevent his body aging or decaying and marking on it a scared vow to never change. Gathering what he could, and what coin he could, he set off...unable to send word to Caellum, and knowing he would be hunted, he hoped his love found happiness as he himself began his journey...
