• Background

  Lyall Youngblood was born in the Kazimaeth Region of the Underground to Adair and Sairey Youngblood in the year 1855. He had an older sister named Anella and an older brother named Kade, the latter of whom he all but worshipped and looked up to in every imaginable way. At age ten, Lyall began learning his family's trade of hat-making under his father's instruction. It was around Lyall's fifteenth birthday that the Black Queen Beradella and her sister, the Red Queen Sardonyx, overthrew their cousins, the Blue Queen Marleigh and the White Queen Allegria, stealing their crowns and thrones and taking over as rulers of the Underground.
  
  For the next two years, Beradella and Sardonyx, now called the "Sister Queens," ruled over the land with complete cruelty, cutting off the head of anyone who dared to defy them. Then, in 1872, when Lyall was seventeen, a nineteen-year-old girl named Alice Liddell arrived from Aboveground. She called Lyall's world "Wonderland" because of all the amazing and wonderful and new things it held that her world didn't. There was a prophecy that Alice would defeat the Sister Queens, and Lyall, along with many of his friends, tried to help her in this task.
  
  They failed.
  
  In the end, Alice ended up becoming just another head in the Queens' collection, after which Time, who Lyall had never gotten along with terribly well, decided to stop entirely unless and until the Queens were defeated. Consequently, Lyall and everyone else in the Underground stopped aging.
  
  Lyall's entire family, including his three niblings, the youngest of whom was only seven, were eventually captured by the Queens' forces and taken to Redmont Palace, where they were publicly charged with treason and executed before Lyall could get there to save them. He has blamed himself for their deaths ever since his father's long-time friend Robert delivered the news to him. Lyall then dedicated himself to the downfall of the Sister Queens, starting a secret movement known as the Starfall Resistance, which he has led himself for over a hundred years.
  
  Just when he was beginning to think that he and the Resistance would have to bring down the Queeens themselves, the Wise One delivered a new prophecy about a person called "the Starlight Savior." The prophecy stated that the Savior would succeed where the First One, a.k.a Alice, failed.
  
  Lyall has spent over a century waiting for the Starlight Savior to arrive; waiting, hoping, and planning. Until finally, one day, in 2016, he found her.

  And from that point on, his life was never the same.

• Misc.

  Lyall is of Scots-Gaelic descent, and he speaks the language fluently. The Scottish accent has remained dominant in his family, and his gets thicker with strong emotion or nerves/anxiety.

  All he has left of his family is an emerald green broacade top hat and a patchwork scarf. After learning of their deaths, he tied the scarf around the brim of the hat and has worn the hat on a daily basis.

  He is the figure known to our world as the Mad Hatter.

  He is based on and inspired by Tarrant Hightopp, the Mad Hatter as portrayed by Johnny Depp.
