  Personality: Masakazu is a free spirit. He loathes rules and strictures, and those that enforce them. He’s playful, mischievous, and his sharp wit has been known to get him into trouble.
  
  On the surface, he’s but a roguish young wolf who treats the world as his plaything. A talented martial artist who likes to test himself. But scratch a little deeper, and you’ll find a samurai without a master, a rōnin without a purpose, and a boy with a deadly addiction.

  Eyes: Red, like hot coals
  Fur / Markings: His fur is naturally dense and apt for colder climates. For the most part, it’s cream in colour, with patches of white around the maw and underside of his body.

  Dō-maru - or lamellar armour - the traditional armour of the samurai, complete with a kabuto, a helmet decorated with a stylized insect.

  His everyday attire is his kamishimo. It’s worn over a red silk kimono. The kataginu jacket is black in colour, sleeveless, and has large, pronounced shoulders. Hakama trousers cover his lower half, loose in fit, with an obi belt tied around his waist, supporting his daishō. On his feet he wears tabi socks and waraji sandals.
  
  Weapons: Daishō - katana, wakizashi and tanto.
  Possessions: Small leather-bound journal, dansen uchiwa (war fan)
  
  Strengths:
  
  [*] Martial Prowess
  Masakazu is, at his very core, a martial artist. He’s an expert swordsman and exponent of Kenjutsu (the art of the sword). Whilst he prefers armed combat, he’s also a proficient karateka, and is a 3rd dan black belt in Shotokan karate.
  
  [*] Deft Paws
  After turning rōnin, Masakazu, through necessity, had to develop a new means of earning coin. He turned his hand to pick-pocketing and has since become a competent thief.
  
  Weaknesses:
  
  [*] Opium
  After suffering a fractured fibula in sparring, a friend suggested he try opium to ease the pain. It was eased, and Masakazu, after experiencing the euphoric high it brought him, has been addicted ever since.
  
  [*] Fund the Habit
  Opium isn’t cheap and Masakazu will do anything for a hit. This has led him down a dark path, where stealing is now a day-to-day occurrence, and gambling with powerful drug lords is commonplace.
  
  [*] Naive
  Masakazu, despite being a highly-skilled warrior, hasn’t yet reached adulthood. At nineteen years of age, he likes to believe he knows everything and is invincible, but in reality, he’s just a kid. Young, impressionable, and naive.
