- Born to Carina Ramirez and Abraham Ochoa when they were 15 and 14 years old, respectively
- When he was 5 years old, Abraham got a job offer from a family friend in New Mexico and moved his little family there in hopes of having a better life for their child.
- Met his best friend, Neph, in Kindergarten.
- Little sister Priscilla was born when Mateo was 7 years old. He was less than thrilled with no longer being the only child.
- Got very seriously playground married to Nephezeem in 2nd grade. They exchanged ring pops. Mateo gave Neph a red one, and Neph gave Mateo a blue one. Nephezeem still has his, unbeknownst to Mateo.

- At 16, Neph and Mateo go to prom together. Mateo got very upset that he wasn't allowed to wear a tux because he didn't want to wear a dress. They take the now fixed up Impala out to a remote spot to watch the stars and hang out together instead. Have their own prom. Mateo comes out to Neph as trans - a move that shocked him 0%. They begin to date.
- Mateo comes out to his family with the support of Neph. He is surprised to learn that there had been bets being made on when he was going to come out. Priscilla won, triumphantly telling their mother she is owed $10. Abraham and Carina don't necessarily understand, but they are supportive as best they can be.
- Nephezeem's family gets killed in a pileup, Neph is badly hurt. Mateo is distraught and doesn't have to try hard at all to convince his parents to let Neph move in with them.
- On Mateo's 18th birthday, he gets his testosterone prescription as a birthday gift. He asks Neph to have the honor of giving him his first shot.
- They both graduate high school, and Mateo begins to work for his father full time in the autobody shop.
- At 20 moves in with Nephezeem to their first apartment.

Mateo is always down to make a joke. He is quirky, fun, and a certified geek as a lover of sci fi and super hero movies (particularly Captain America, but anything Marvel is a hit). His humor is sarcastic and he has a deep love for puns of which he uses liberally. He is vibrant and warm and always ready to get into some kind of mischief. In fact, Mateo lives to push boundaries of all kinds and doesn't let anyone tell him he can't do something. He'll prove them wrong just to prove them wrong especially if it's because "girls can't do it" as noted when he tried out for the football team in high school in order to force some diversity.

Not afraid to throw a punch. His temper is usually pretty under control, but he is a redhead and a Latino, and he lives up to the stereotype if you push him enough. Especially when it comes to people who fall under his umbrella of family.

The tanager is also a bit of a technology nerd. He is the tech guy for Neph's band and anything that has electric or motor components he can usually figure out or fix. He's also very good with math, though absolutely did not apply himself in school, preferring to skate by just enough to be able to play sports and do extra curricular activities but otherwise stay under the radar. However, he did earn extra money on the side by doing kids homework or tutoring in math.

All in all, he's just a fun person to know and be around. Not afraid to get in and out of shit. Not afraid to be silly. Fearless is a fairly good word to describe him. Fearless and loyal and just a silly little guy.
