Maya is a tall, thin girl dressed in torn and dirty clothing. Her hair is long, black, and unkempt. It's often damp and hanging in front of her face. She's usually wearing grey skinny jeans, a worn out pair of black work boots, and a battered leather jacket over a hooded sweatshirt. Her jacket has a large back-patch reading "actualize industrial collapse" and an assortment of smaller band patches from obscure Norwegian black metal artists. If at a show/etc, she wears a black leather collar attached to two chains that run slackly from her throat to the belt loops on either side of her jeans. She's been known to wear corpse-paint for special occasions. She always carries a hunting knife strapped to her belt, and hauls around a black backpack full of survival gear (iodine, first aid kit, sleeping bag, etc) and her few possessions (discman and cds [no joke!], pre-paid cell phone, dog-eared copies of anarchist literature, etc.).
Maya can be found loitering around hostels, clubs, and the YWCA of any given city, often in 'queer' neighborhoods. She's worked for community efforts like Food not Bombs and even an animal liberationist group, but moves around too often to have a close circle of political allies or friends. In truth, Maya is a bit antisocial and tires quickly of being in groups. She is happiest when she is by herself or with one very close friend or partner; consequently, she gets jealous easily of her partners' other friends and obligations. Her romantic relationships tend to end badly. Maya has a deep anger towards modern society at large and believes that positive social change cannot happen until after a climate catastrophe destroys the normative lifestyles we now lead. She struggles to remain empathic towards others in the here and now given her apocalyptic and nihilist views.
