• The Traveler has moved...

  After spending quite a while guiding and rehabilitating a newly turned vampiress, the beloved sloth monk has decided to move on. It was quite the achievement: To educate a vampiress to the point that she no longer is dependant on blood and such, in fact... making her quite human again save for the lack of a reflection and the slightly elongated teeth.

• Description

  > There he sits, in serenity unlike any other. A sloth, be it a tad bit larger than the average three toed sloth, but a sloth nonetheless. He is wise, for he has seen many, heard much, learned a lot, but never spoken untill the need was there to spread his knowledge. Clad in sober orange monk robes he sits, quiet reflection upon life. A thousand mile stare, but with a certain calm.

• Biography

  He has lived for lifetimes it seems, his body ageless, but his mind wise, calm and pure beyond mortal comprehension. No he is not a deity, no he is not a magic user, he merely achieved this state through meditation, self education and reception of enlightenment (of all kinds, not only the spiritual one).

  • The Student and the Mentor. January 13th 2015

    It has been several weeks ago since Melody Jane, a succubus, came to me. Unlike Master Patita Cintaka, I resisted her nature. She was suprised to be called young, untill I explained to her that my age was eightfold hers. She wished to understand how. In return I asked her how she came to be. Apparently this type of demon can be either spawned or mortal made into demon. She is the latter as she revealed. She was once mortal and has retained much of her own personality and will.
    With that as the basis she asked if I could mentor her. I have pondered upon this matter. Can one break the laws of the demonic and transcend even that state? I told her that I would mentor her on a few terms.
    

    1. No magic.
    2. No closed minds.
    3. Return the hospitality given to you, doubled.
    4. Respect is everything, for everything.

    She merely asked to be excused when she would require to feed, of course we must not go against one's nature without the proper training. Forcing one's will when the willpower is not there only breaks one.
    Her admiration for me is strong and her will to learn is even stronger. I riddled her a few basic things. She picked up quite fast.
    

    • First I told her we were going on a walk to nowhere, but somewhere at the same time. We transitioned from the busy urban areas to a calm forst, near my cabin. She was so taken with the calm that surrounded me that she had not payed attention to the transistion. When I asked her about our destination she took a moment and concluded it was Serenity. She was correct, how delightful.
    • The second riddle is one of my favourites. The kettle of ice with leafs haplessly thrown into them, but no fire around. "Need, desire, must, freedom, luxury, essentials. Which one of these will you find under this lid?". Her mind went racing. She opened the kettle with the answer "The bare essentials" only to find the kettle was empty, as empty as that statement. After some thinking she came upon "Freedom to choose and make of things what one wants to." which is correct, freedom is more important than the bare essentials to stay alive, greater than any need, desire or lust.
    • The third riddle proved to be difficult, eventhough she initiated it without knowing. She asked how we can pursue Freedom and Serenity if those were more essential than sustenance and sleep which are required to keep the body functioning. I simply asked her "What is the basic prerequisite for Serenity, Freedom, Nutrients, Hospitality and all that?" hoping that if she had payed attention to my terms and the lessons so far that the answer would come swift. She overthought it and answered with "Thought and being mindfull of it" I told her it was quite the opposite, I didn't want to give it away. She then took a long hard thinking session and returned with the answer "An Open Mind" which is correct. For mutually open minds are hospitable towards one another. Which provides sustenance for the body, which keeps the mind going. The mind then finds serenity and the freedom to act however it wishes and live free from restrictions placed upon us by those who are power hungry to dominate others.

    
    She learns quickly. After a while I went to meditate as she had to feed and when she returned she tried to mimic my meditation. She didn't fully succeed, but then again, no one does the first time. She shows much promise.

    I have welcomed a young man to my shack in the forest. He introduced himself as Bialis. I offered him tea and hospitality. He consumed his foods and drinks faster than the fireplace crackled or the snow would melt before the searing sun. He has the steady hand of an archer and he has something about him that makes him distrustful of all. It pains me to see that such cruelty exists to bring these feelings up to a person... Through conversation I learned he is wrongfully hunted by a corrupt ruling power he tried to cleanse. As the winter closes it's grasp around my little sanctuary I have offered him to stay and to bring peace to his mind, a mind torturded by horrific memories of dark magics and deaths of those close to him. Perhaps one day through a small bit of mentorship he will have peace and the ability to share hospitality. I have advised him to write down the actual facts so that a friend of mine may print it, expose the truth to the masses and so he may find support or at least see the corrupt ruling power be dissolved by those that rise up to demand the restoration of balance.

    Today I sat outside and had made a fresh kettle of nettle tea. I saw a lonely female sitting nearby. I invited her to partake. She introduced herself as Neva. The female was quite happy with my hospitality and flattered me with a shower of compliments, explaining she didn't have the luxury of hot drinks at home. When I inquired as to why not, she explained she lived in the mountains in the cave of the husband that is now no longer around, explaining she lives there to protect the cave. She enjoyed the drink so much that she admitted it would be to her liking if she had some tea more often. After the first pot had been emptied and we shared bread, I set up a second pot, a mix of nettle, citrus leaf, blueberries and honey. She flattered me by calling me the "Tea Master". It has been long since someone enjoyed my company in such splendour. She admitted she had come down from her semi-hermitage for "Good Times".
    Usually this would mean pleasures of the flesh, but I offered her something more meditative.
    I prepared many ointments and sticks of incense. They were well received. She wanted to repay me with pleasures of the flesh most selfish in nature. We met each other half way, finding balance. It was a good way to end this first meeting. I forsee that this refreshing experience will not deter me from my path, but at the same time will benefit to those around me, how ever few they may be.
