• Description

  She was a princess murdered by her husband for her wealth and fame, and saved by a tree Fae. Her heart was replaced by a magical flower, granting her life without aging as long as she gets some sun every day. However, she carries the scars of betrayal and her once cheerful personality faded when his dagger pierced her heart, and she set out to explore the world she never knew. Her spear holds the gem (also once a flower) that binds her to this world. If it gets too far away from her, her heart will stop and she will die. She still carries the silver owl necklace with her initials engraved in it, binding her to her family in a way.

• Biography

  The Murder of a Maiden
  A beautiful, young lady, wearing a beautiful dress dances through a field. "Let's picknick here!" She runs to a big tree, with a nice spot of shadow underneath so they wouldn't have to eat in the hot summer sun. Her new husband, following her with the basket smiles and yells "don't you want to sit by the pond?" "I like this tree!"
  He spreads a big cloth over the grass, and starts unpacking the basket. She happily skips and plays around the tree, jumping from root to root. The little silver owl glints and glitters in the sun, He carefully places a dagger next to the basket, within reach but out of her field of vieuw. "Come sit, let's eat"
  
  After some small talk, he starts talking about more serious things. "So your family is pretty powerful, huh?" She smiles, and replies "yup! And rich too. You got lucky with me! Such a pity you don't get any power. I'd love to get rid of all those papers and obligations..." He just nods, and stares at the dagger. She looks up at the sky and complains "I'll only get rid of that when I die, and that is too much of a price...." She smiles, watching the wind play with the leaves. "Not for me." "What?" She looks at her husband. "I said..." He paused. "That would be a price I'm willing to pay for the power of the Edelweiss heir."
  T hey stared at each other, his eyes hard and determined, hers closer to tears.
  
  "You're joking, right?" She whispered, as his hand went for the dagger. "You're joking! Please tell me you're joking!" She crawled backward until her back was against the tree, while he approached her, dagger in hand. "I thought you loved me!" He just grinned. "Oh, naive girl..." Desperately, she tried to get up, leaning on the tree. He pushed her down. "Aidan? Aidan!" She tried to get out of his grip, but he was stonger and pushed her to the ground. He brought his arm up, ready to stab, while her screams echoed through the valley. "Oh, how I wish I could have gotten a taste of that gorgeous body of yours before ruining it... Sadly, I have my responsibilities now. I don't have any time to spare for a little whore like you..." They stopped abruptly.
  
  She felt her life ebb out of her body, and blacked out.
  
  Aidan kicked the basket and the food around, so it would seem like a struggle. He left the dagger in his wife's lifeless body. It had been cheap anyways, and money didn't matter now that he would inherit the wealth of the Edelweiss family.
  
  She woke up, lying in some weird grass. It didn't really feel like grass.
  
  "Oh, boy, how you've gotten yourself in trouble. Tsk tsk."
  She looked around, and found the one who spoke. She was not sure what it was but it looked and sounded female, but also suspiciously tree-like.
  "Who are you? Where am I? Aren't I dead?"
  
  "Easy, honey. One question at a time. Rosemary, is it? I am a Fae. You are in my tree. And yes, you are more or less dead. He completely ruined that pretty heart of you. You might want to pull out that dagger though."
  Curious, Rose looked down. She wasn't bleeding anymore, but the sight of a dagger sticking out of your own chest isn't appealing in the slightest.
  "Pull it out." The tree lady's voiche echoed through her mind. "What?" Rose looked at her. "Are you serious?" "Do it!" Her voice was hard.
  The young girl took the dagger's handle with both her hands, and pulled. It did not come loose easily, but to her surprise, she felt nothing.
  "You're dead already, dear."
  "Why did you make me do this then?"
  "So you can live!" Suddenly, the tree lady lashed out, and violently tore Rose's damaged heart from her chest.
  Disgruntled, the girl looked through her broken ribs, at the hole where her heart should be.
  "And now, for the final act...." The tree lady picked a bright purple flower from the long, flexible branches growing out of her head like hair, and held it in both hands. The flower closed, transformed, and started glowing... And moving. Beating.
  
  "A brand new heart for a young maiden, unbroken and pure."
  
  She stepped forward and placed it in the girl's chest.
  
  "May it beat for many years to come."
  
  Rosemary screamed out in pain, of her wound closing and healing, and of her body adjusting to the new thing inside. Things moved, roots grew from what was once a flower and attached to her veins and ribs. Rose curled up on the ground, eyes squeezed shut, sweating cold sweat. The pain spread in waves from her heart to her body and back, until she felt her blood flowing, her muscles moving, her heart beating, and the pain faded away. She opened her eyes, and saw every single detail. Her hearing had gotten better as well. "What have you done to me?"
  
  "There may be some side effects. Like a leaf growing out of your shoulder once in a while, you'll heal faster, you're stronger and faster. And plant-Fae will try to talk to you. Uh, what else? If you fuck up some of your limbs might turn into wood, like mine."
  "Wha... What?"
  "Oh, you also need sunlight to survive. And you turn into a tree when you die.
  Rose held her hands on her chest, feeling the beats of the flower inside.
  "You're more or less my daughter now. You're like a tree in human form. You are no Edelweiss anymore. You might want to find a job."
  "Oh...." Rose's hands went to her necklace.
  
  "Don't look so sad. We have more to discuss. Since you're dead, you're going to need a catalyst to stay in that world. Let's make it a weapon. A spear!"
  Rosemary said nothing, and the lady kept talking. "Yes, that's a good idea. Hand me that dagger, my dear." Rose did as she said.
  Holding the dagger in both hands, vines crept up from her forearms and wrapped around the metal, which seemed to be getting hotter and hotter while more and more vines folded themselves around the weapon and transformed it. Slowly, they formed a spear, and the wood hardened and darkened, until it caught light like metal would. Rose thought that the weapon could never really be made out of metal, when it was living wood just now! As the last of the vines slipped into place the tree Fae picked another purple flower from her hair-vines it formed a crystal that she placed in the grip of the spear. "This is your catalyst. Don't let it too far from you- you'll turn into a tree. I doubt you'd want that. But, well. Are you sure you want to go back to your family?"
  "Ofcourse!" Rose doubted her answer the moment it came out of her mouth.
  "They think you're dead. You are completely free! You can do whatever you want! Explore the world, fight bad guys, do what you feel like, you can choose it all for yourself!"
  This, Rose thought, is a very appealing idea.
  "Well? What's it going to be?"
  "I... I think I'll leave for a while. Like a holiday."
  "That's the spirit! But what are you going to do with your name?"
  "My name?"
  "Honey, Rosemary Catherine Edelweiss died today." The Fae smiled sympathetically.
  "I'll pick something when I feel like."
  The tree nodded. "Well then, off you go!" And with these words the young girl stood next to the tree, the heart that was torn out of her chest in the grass next to her. It was evening now.
  Before she left, she asked the tree "what is your name?"
  She heard the tree-Fae laugh. "A Fae can never reveal their true name!" After a small pause she continued "but you can call me Red Willow. That is my tree after all."
  "Then why do you have purple flowers?"
  The tree rustled, as if it was coughing- or cringing. "My mother was a decorative plant in the castle garden. Let's not elaborate on that any further. Get walking, dumb girl!" And replied no more.
