He was all I had after dad was killed. The truest joy I have ever felt without consequence or half-truths made for the benefit of the other. My father taught me how to be a man, help others, and be a good person but he couldn't show me what he had never known himself.
Only my Hawkman could.
Some pieces broke from us when we descended together. Fragments we need to find again. Memories that escape our grasp but he is having a harder time. Maybe those last few days with all the meds they were pushing through his system.
They can't separate us now. We made the decision together but maybe I pushed for it far more than I should have.
He never could say no to me.
But now?
I have no regrets.
Not in the slightest.
