Octavia Strange

A rather average looking woman with a boyish, but attractive, rosy face framed by shaggy, mousy brown hair. Her gloomy grey eyes tend to make most students find her intimidating, as she always seems to sport a serious look. She is often mistaken for a teenage boy from behind, being rather straight bodied. The fact that she tends to dress more like a student doesn't help much either.

Born and raised in Cobh as the middle child, and only daughter, to a muggle-born witch mother and pureblood father. She was highly doted upon, being the only daughter and was given her Great-Grandfathers wand when she turned 11. She had a very close bond with her older brother, despite his many pranks (included, attempting to convince her to eat Tooth-Splintering Strong-mints), who in attempting to make a batch of Swelling Solution, died. She is quite estranged from her younger brother Oliver. From a very young age, was highly interested in muggle things, be it bicycles or decks of playing cards or wine corks. Much to the dismay of her father she enchanted many of these, usually with disastrous results.

Upon entering into Hogwarts, she was sorted into Gryffindor, which partially disappointed her parents, who wanted her to be in Ravenclaw due to her high-intelligence, wit and common sense. Soon after her second year started, a dreadful thing happened to the family. Her father had killed her mother and had simply vanished, leaving behind his wand, as well as his wife's. This left Symbulus and Octavia to raise their younger brother.

This tragedy took a great toll on Octavia as well as her siblings, often causing explosive arguments. Soon after Octavia graduated from Hogwarts, Symbulus took ill with an accidentally self-inflicted magical malady which found him convalescing in St. Mungos, leaving behind Octavia and Oliver. Symbulus would never recover

Not one of her siblings all shared the same house during their educations at Hogwarts, with Oliver in Ravenclaw and Symbulus in Hufflepuff. Her years at Hogwarts were primarily normal, excluding the odd adventure in the dark forest, and often found herself in detention for hexing her rivals, or pranking teachers with exploding bonbons and exploding stink pellets. She did exceedingly well at dueling, and was a favorite of the Charms teacher, grandly out showing her peers in even minor charms. She graduated with high marks, even obtaining three N.E.W.T Level marks in Charms, Transfiguration and Herbology. Not long after, she began to work for the Ministry, researching dangerous creatures, Charms and Hexes. After a long assignment in Albania, she began her literary career. Often times, she found herself in seclusion on these intellectual sojourns. She left several years later to live in a cozy cottage just outside the Wizarding Village of Ottery St. Catchpole to continue her literary works. Even with her writing, she has become restless.

She has done extensive work into ancient charms and hexes, at the request of the Ministry, used by ancient Egyptian Wizards, as well as some work in France, Transylvania, Albania, and Russia. Over the duration of her expeditions, she turned her adventures into books for young witches and wizards, under the pen-name of Cassandra Storey.

She loves Muggle art and music, and is fascinated with old Muggle films, finding their ability to make "magic pictures" quite astounding and respectable.

Immensely fond of Muggle literature, and has recently taken quite a liking to jazz.

She often had detention at Hogwarts thanks to her adventurous Gryffindor nature and constant charming. A favorite passtime was bewitching benches to hover when sat upon, or using sticking charms on Wizard Chess sets, and on one occasion pelting her Divination Professor with her charmed canaries.



She has a pet Mau named Nero. Oddly enough, this is the only cat she has ever managed to been fond of, having grown up with many half-kneazles, always finding them unlovable creatures. It was given to her by an old witch in Albania, as "protection" as the lady claimed, and to give her a companion. The cat is seemingly ageless and remarkably even-tempered.

She keeps a diary. If one other than her opens it, they usually will get a squirt in the face with the lavender ink she writes in.





The Wand

Her wand is Rowan, which denotes her birth month and also some of her personality traits.

The Rowan tree embodies sensitivity and motion. While it is represented as being full of charm, cheerful, life-loving and being quite good company, it has its downsides. It is both dependent and independent and represents unrest, regarding Octavia's emotions, and her issues with forgiveness.

The ancient druids once used Rowan to make for themselves staves. The Rowan tree is often related to Power, Healing, Protection and Mystery, as well as often having a close relationship with Divination. It has also been known as being a sacred container to the druids. It has long been honored for its balanced beauty and hardiness, and for its ability to transform negative energies.

Mother: Christina Blackwater, Muggle-born Witch, Potion-maker/House Wife (Deceased)


Father: Percivius Strange, 66, ex-Auror, Presumed Dead


Siblings: Two brothers: Symbulus Strange, eldest brother, died in a potions accident. Oliver Strange, 22, estranged from the family.


Family History:

Percivius Strange
Her father is a pureblood wizard, and ex-Auror for the Ministry of Magic. He wielded a wand of White Pine, 10 inches long, with a core of Fwooper Feathers, which many claim later led to his madness. He is currently deemed a non-threat by the Ministry, as his wand was destroyed from committing his wife's murder. No one truly knows if Percivius truly killed his wife, just that the wand used was his.

His current whereabouts are unknown, and it is unlikely he will be seen in the magic community again.



Christina Blackwater
Her mother was a Muggle-born witch, who Octavia is a spitting image of. Upon her attendance at Hogwarts, she met her future husband Percivius. She later went on to run a small apothecary shop in their small wizarding village until her death.

Symbulus

The oldest of the Strange siblings. Near-Master Potions maker, renowned for inventing a long-soak solution that removed Permanent Sticking Charms. Became ill during an experiment gone wrong and is now confined to St. Mungos.

Oliver

Octavia refuses to speak about him without showing some form of anger. He has been estranged from the family since his graduation from Hogwarts. He favors their father, having a more serious and severe look about him.
