• Description

  Renny was an odd thing; an old, odd thing. Ostensibly human in appearance, brightly colored silk clothing contrasting with the brilliant crimson of her hair and the deathlike pallor of her skin. Yet there was something about her... an irregularity to her aura that, to those who could sense it, would feel subtly wrong. She carried with her a jeweler's messenger bag, the slots full of potions and ingredients rather than jewelery and the associated tools. Soft markings embroidered into the fabric were beautiful in their simplicity, offering a slight hum to any who might investigate.
  
  
  She was musical, carrying with her a small harmonica should she find a playing mood strike her. Stashed away safely were other instruments, up to and including a very old and very well loved piano. Other skills include cooking, though only passably, and fiber crafts - from spinning and weaving to knitting and crochet when they became popular, her vampire reflexes significantly decreasing the time and workload required to make suitable fabrics. For this reason, her clothes are frequently handmade, and she'll go out of her way to acquire superior materials.
  
  Renny is fluent in both French and English, and passable in a few other European languages, including some that have since died out. She tried learning Gaelic, but only knows a handful of words and lost interest when she realized it wouldn't help her at all. Her accent is strong but not so thick she cannot be understood, and she'd lived in London long enough for it to both color her accent and get her up to speed on English euphemism and innuendo. That said, she isn't terribly comfortable with speaking to strangers, though she will despite that discomfort if only to make friends. Ren will go out of her way to make friends, too afraid to remain alone for too long.
  
  Perenelle can shapeshift by way of potion, relying on her altered DNA and using it to affect the change. She is an alchemist still, though her famous husband is long since dead. It is unclear if her alchemistry gained potency from her symbiotic relationship with the parasite or if it merely was enhanced by it. Regardless, she believes firmly she could not achieve what she's capable of without the infection.
  
  Besides alchemy and shapeshifting, the symbiote affords her some minor telepathic and telekinetic abilities, which she uses sparingly (and frequently only to seduce humans into being prey or providing the gold of a sufficient purity for the potions she needs to extend her parasite's life). From a young and eager witch she once learned elemental control, but it hurts too much to use in anything but dire emergency.
  
  She can walk in daylight fine, but the sun's radiation does cause discomfort to the point even of migraines, and prolonged skin exposure can reveal her not completely terrestrial nature, due to new skin cells being a hybrid of the alien's and of humans, and the color difference easily visible until she can hide it with a potion. Her blood, too, isn't the same color, instead a green so dark it appears black in most light (but is otherwise just like human blood).

• Biography

  Perenelle became a vampire in the late 1300s, staging her death in 1397 due to parasitic infection from a worm-like alien creature. Her and the creature have long since been integrated to such extent that they are the same, and to remove the parasite from her would kill both instantly. Because of her apparent immortality, she's moved all throughout Europe, leaving for a new place just as soon as someone suspects her of being inhuman.
  
  Most of that history is just a blur to her, though she distinctly recalls lending her services as a healer, then later a nurse, on multiple occasions through various wars. She witnessed some of the more important events of history, such as the beheading of Marie Antoinette, but is only so knowledgeable on the subjects. She was living in London during WWII, and volunteered frequently as a nurse in the hardest hit areas.
  
  But London has lost the sparkle that first attracted her, and now she's looking to make a new start in North America, having heard the "new world" rumors for over a hundred years now. New Orleans, given its French and Spanish history, seems most appealing, and that's what's drawn her to the place.
