  • Backstory

    Before he was even a man Ryl knew the harshness of the world he lived in. By the age of six his father had a sword in Ryl's hand. At the age of eight Ryl was an orphan, his father slain while defending their home from bandits. For the next decade Ryl was forced around as a slave and a gladiator. Finally winning his freedom through coin he had stolen and won over the years. The years of brutality he had endured had molded Ryl into a mass of pure muscle fueled by angst towards any who would want to do the same to another family as the bandits did to him. As he left the city where he had been held captive his direction was for his old home.

    Ryl went home is search for a chest his father spoke of when he was but a boy. His father had said that the armor was Ryl's grandfathers, hidden somewhere on the mountain which they lived in the shadow of. To this day Ryl wears the same armor as his Grandfather, he is rarely seen out of it and still it gleams brightly in the sun as if forged the day before. The sword and shield he carries are a mark of his exemplary skills in the arena. Forged by the best man the city could offer with the best metals that could be found, these were presented as gifts by the leaders of the town to Ryl as he was granted freedom.

    In recent years Ryl travels lightly and from tavern to tavern seeking to act as a bodyguard or a guide anywhere he goes in exchange for coin.
