  Squish is fairly weak by Illithid standards. They don't have any real ability to mind control people, except for magical means, their mind blasts don't do damage, just disorient, and what they can do is very cosmetic:
  Squish can alter their appearance by changing how others perceive them, as well as being able to do the same perception fiddling to their voice, making it seem like they have a wide range of voices they can do.
  
  Squish normally presents themself as an incredibly androgynous human, to the point it's not uncommon for most people to flip between pronouns, though Squish doesn't mind.
