  Starling is an athletic creature with excellent poise and precision in her movements. Each of her actions has a purpose and she is quick with her hands. Her face is rather plain, though pretty she isn't striking. She has a heart shaped face with a square jaw and rounded features. There is one thing about her that is striking, however; her eyes. They're a bright leafy green that always seem alive and interested. Her hair is a dirty blonde and descends to her shoulders, with a straight fringe over her brow. It seems naturally messy and takes a great deal of brushing and pomade to de-tangle the nest. When in public, she is often seen in dresses of light materials, generally in hay or honey shades. When on more...Dangerous exploits, she adopts an armour of dark leather, stitched to allow for maximum movement. She also smears a dark, brick-red mixture across her eyes to hide her true identity. It is rare people see her as such for long.

  Starling is rather unassuming. She has faith in her own abilities but rarely acts as though she is above anyone else. Happy to talk to most people and as a nod to her alias, she is quite gregarious. Laughter, song and good conversation are things she craves. As Kate, she is a Minstrel of the House of the Black Bear and belongs to its Lord. With an eidetic memory, she can recall information, images and words spoken as clearly as if laid out in front of her. This allows her to tell the greatest tales and sing gripping songs - her wonderful memory allows her to recall the most intimate details of events. A bright girl, she is good with words and adept at poetry and (of course) song writing. A generally pleasant person, who is interested in everyone. As Starling, she is the Black Bear Lord's assassin. A woman who prefers solitude and silence. She is systematic, calculating and unforgiving. She is obedient, attentive and stoic. Starling follows orders, and be sure, she follows them well.

• Starling has an in depth knowledge of herbalism. She is familiar with several herbs, plants and fungi as well as their properties. She is capable of extracting poisons from them into several forms. Powders, liquids and gasses in some cases. As well as the deathly properties of flora, she is also aware of healing and medicinal properties.
  
  In combat, Starling is a capable, swift and wiry opponent. She uses pressure points to her advantage though often goes directly for the kill. If that is not possible, she will wear her opponent down with her speed and stamina before going in for quick, lethal blows. Because she is quite light, Starling is not the best with hand to hand combat, but she can certainly hold her own if required. It is not her favoured form of combat, however.
• Song and storytelling: As "Kate the Minstrel", Starling has a vast repertoire of songs and stories ranging from the dark, mysterious and terrifying to light, good-hearted fun for the whole family.
  
  Her minstrel services are ones she offers to the general public. Starling is able to play most string instruments, along with the flute, pan pipes and drums.
  
  She doesn't often ask for a set prices. Usually a free room, a good meal and a mug of ale will do her. But if people wish to pay her, they are welcome. Of course, if she is hired for a more noble occasion, she asks for at least five gold.
