• Home Planet

  Tritium hails from a world by the name of Rhynnell. It is not, however, the name of the planet itself, but instead the name given to the single country whose borders extend nearly from edge to edge of the globe with a few uninhabitable regions excluded. Rhynnell exists currently in what is referred to as the “Third Order”; a structured and peaceful state nearly devoid of poverty and strife. The society is organized around scientific principles and highly based on a popular philosophical theory: the Triplanar Theory of Being, and it is this which forms the basis for the widespread religion of VaothiA.
  
  Life is organized around the religion. Roughly put, VaothiA is a way of classifying all experiences and existences into that of the physical world, the mental world, and the essence world. Different people often find themselves identifying strongest with one plane, though it is usually frowned upon to completely neglect one or more of the planes in favour of another.

• Species/Genetic Information

  At birth Tritium was diagnosed with a genetic mutation called Illiacann Syndrome that causes loss of gender, voice, sight, hair, and eventually life as it progresses. The mutation is not overly common, but those who suffer from it, often called Illiacanns, form close bonds with each others and the scientific and medical communities. Though the Syndrome can make life extremely difficult, it is not without its small benefits. Many Illiacanns develop enhanced abilities to manipulate electrical signals, and many of the diseased find solace from their ailing bodies by ‘plugging in’ to a cyber network their comrades have built. In the past, the cyber network and the understanding of the relationship between sensory stimuli and electrical impulses in the brain reached a level where the Illiacanns and their scientific brethren were able to create and implant small auxiliary devices to allow them to regain some of their lost senses and abilities.
  
  Eventually the technology became so advanced that many were able to completely replace their faulty physical forms with robotic bodies. This put a stop to the problem of premature death and sensory deprivation, as brains were removed from their deteriorating shells and placed into a constructed body fully capable of many sensory experiences. The physical bodies are not disposed of, however, they are stored in the chance that somehow a cure for the Syndrome could be found.
  
  While the Illiacanns were originally limited to communication and connection with their brethren through only the various auxiliary devices, their new bodies allowed them to communicate with ease to others connected all across the globe through constant network integration. Some Illiacanns have found such contentment in their newfound network that they use a mobile body only for special occasions or emergencies. Many have even expressed no desire to return to their weaker physical bodies from before the brain transplants should the Syndrome be cured.
  
  In the present day in Rhynnell, the Illiacanns have become almost a separate species, and are responsible for much of the peace and prosperity of the state of society though they work in the background as opposed to the foreground. They are able to create and implement simulations and systems to better the lives of normal people; projects ranging from traffic control to food production to virtual realities purely for entertainment value. The Illiacanns are creators and architects who work not with paint and canvas, but with ones and zeros. They live in a tight-knit community that allows them to be mentally together no matter where their physical bodies may travel.

• History

  When Tritium was first found to have Illiacann Syndrome the technology for the robotic bodies was not fully implementable. As such, the Syndrome followed its natural course and he lost his hair and voice. Due to the tumultuous state of the world at the closing of the Second Age and prejudice towards Vaothians by some of the First, Tritium's unnatural appearance made him a frequent target of harassment.
  
  However, his mental capabilities and understanding of the detailed electrical workings of his brain developed along with his physical deformities and he was soon able to use some of the auxiliary devices to an Illiacann. Tritium was also involved in development of an experimental neural network implant that consisted of metal plates grafted to his skull which connected to specific areas of his brain on one side, and a tangle of wires on the back. This allowed him full access to the Illicann-built network in its early stages, and he worked closely with his comrades to build and develop user interfacing and virtual realities in the hopes that one day even those not suffering from the Syndrome would be able to experience the "bliss of existence free from flesh".
  
  As technological development progressed, Tritium eventually moved himself into a robotic surrogate and placed his physical form in cryogenic storage to prologue his life. With this new surrogate, he was once again able to work in the physical world, experiencing and learning from things present in nature in order to learn how to better implement them into the complex Illiacann systems and VRs.

• Personality

  When one spends so much time among the structured systems of the network, one begins to appreciate the beauty of organic shapes and randomness. Tritium enjoys nature for that reason and strives to find a balance of order and chaos. The same balance seeking does not appear to apply to his own organic form however, for he would much prefer to remain in the controlled and comfortable environment of his body of metals and plastics. He does not have a concept of pain in that body, nor does he have to deal with things such as eating, sleeping, or unpleasant odours. Aside from some small routine maintenance which he performs himself, Tritium is able to fully devote himself to his desires to learn and create. He also greatly enjoys the constant mental presence of his fellow Illiacanns and rarely switches himself out of the network.
  
  Tritium’s life choices are guided heavily by his religious beliefs of VaothiA. The religion urges followers to adhere to its three main principles: Preservation of Life, Pursuit of Knowledge, and Enjoyment of Existence and he takes great care to follow them to the best of his abilities.
