• Description

  Vanname is one of the Vörn; a subset of the Verndari race on Ianua. The Verndari are born with magical horns and therefore imbued with power, but the Vörn lack a horn and are gifted feathered wings instead. They do not possess magic, but are adept fighters. Van is a typical Vörn. He is shorter than a Verndari, standing just under seven feet and he has a broad built and is heavily muscled. His face is rectangular with a somewhat flat, wide nose, full lips and high cheekbones. His eyes are large and yellow and often narrowed as he's a rather sulky person. His ears are like a horse's and sit on the side of his head and he has cloven hooves on an extra joint in his leg instead of feet.
  
  Van's skin is piebald and he therefore has large patches of black on his body over a white undercoat. The most obvious patches are the two black spots that make a mask over his eyes, causing a white blaze down his face. The hair on his head is long, silky and inky black, but his fur grows longer on his elbows, chin and below his knees. His tail is long, thin and leonine with a puff of fur at the end and feathers at the base. He broke the end of his tail some years ago in a warg raid and it never healed right, so it permanently curls. In the same raid, he was nearly killed when he took a warg paw to the chest resulting in the disturbing four pronged scar that runs from his left shoulder diagonally down his body. The Verndari were not able to heal it all the way, but he was brought back from the brink of death, at least. As a Vörn, Van has a pair of large, feathered wings which grow from his shoulder blades. They are large enough to carry his weight in flight, but not for extreme distances. They are predominantly black with white and black striations on the under side.
  
  Clothing has never been an important thing to the Verndari people, but Van wears a short, tribal like loincloth at times with a belt. The belt is necessary so he can carry a weapon on his person at all times, in case of an attack.

• Biography

  When the Luxumeri people came to Ianua through the rift from Paradium, they did not expect to be met with such a harsh environment. Over time, their occupation of the land has caused their bodies to evolve and adapt making them the Verndari and Vörn of today. As such, the soldier class has become slightly more brutal than they once were with some even seeking fights when they would otherwise only fight to defend themselves and the more fragile Verndari.
  
  Vanname was born to Verndari parents who loved him despite his being different from them. He lacked magic as he did not have a horn, but he is a capable and agile flyer. As he grew older, he was recruited to the soldier program and trained to fight with weapons to protect his people. Vanname became very skilled and when a young princeling was born, he was tasked as his guardian. Yewelyn has grown up with Vanname's protective eye on him and while the young prince feels at ease with the man at his side, he's had his rebellious moments.
  
  Yew wondered out on his own one day when he was in his teens to warg ridden territory where Van had to follow. As a result, the Verndari encampment was attacked by the pack and Van mortally wounded. He would have perished if not for the healing ability in the Verndari horns. Since then, Yew has been less interested in leaving his guardian behind, but he still tests his boundaries with Van, often flaunting his promiscuity in the man's face. Van does not like how the prince leads his life somewhat recklessly, but he cannot talk out of turn with his sense of duty.
