Viola Basque

Ryne History

Born into a relatively well off family, Viola had great things expected of her, and once upon a time, she might have been considered a proper lady... if her parents were to survive the Dawnstar attacks on their city. Her childhood was filled with luxurious foods, clothes, and even schooling when things were calm and quiet. However, Viola's family had been sympathisers and activists that assisted the well being of those that the Dawnstar sought to snuff out or use for continued labour. Because of the Basque family's history with aiding and assisting not only Anaeum, but Tengu, Illurigariae, and Avoss, the Basque family had been targeted from the start.

At fifteen was when Viola's parents were slain and she was forced into hiding by the family workers, Viola decided that there was only one thing to do with some of the connections she knew her family had. Some of the those that had regarded the Basque family with respect and good will had pointed Viola in the direction of the Black Crowns over the course of about a year and a half of looking into sources and plotting out her revenge.

When Viola had approached the Black Crowns, she had stated her business and told them that if their fight was against the Dawnstar company that presided over a majority of Eve and Arvendor, then she was going to help and assist their cause. This caused some discomfort across some of the higher ups, though Viola was eventually given home and refuge within Manor Black's walls, and was considered family among those that were also of Crown membership. When Viola had been branded with the Mark of the Crown, she had not flinched or even cried out in pain. The only thing she felt in that moment was something that changed her outlook and personality from then on.

Training for the Crimson branch had been a priority to Viola as she trained for melee based combat and learning how to kill enemies most efficiently. Some of Viola's training had come from Blithe Wilkins herself, one of the Eve Triad that had been the Crimson head in Westgate. Though Blithe had trained Viola a bit, there were times that Viola's intentions had been more along the lines of reckless and sloppy. Viola had not liked Blithe's words, and admittedly continued her training the way she usually always did it... mostly in spite of what Blithe critiqued.

Viola had managed to nail her first mission on her own, much to the surprise of Blithe and the other trainer that had been overseeing a segment of the Crimson classes. It had later been revealed by Ferric Grimswald, however, that Viola's recklessness caused one of their own Shadowed to get caught and come home with a broken wrist, effectively compromising one of their more experienced Shadowed till their bones mended.

On the second mission, Viola's brash ways had landed her with becoming blind in her right eye, as well as coming back to Westgate with a near fatal wound, and cuts that would definitely leave scars across her face. Taking time to heal in Manor Black's medical wing, Viola had eventually been fitted with an eye patch given to her from one of the friends she had made being a part of the Crowns, Mathieu Waters.

Upon being released from medical watch, Viola had taken to training and had actually been more mindful of how she approached her methods this time. Talking to Blithe and even apologising to her, Viola had been more aware of how dangerous her life as a Crimson Crown would have been. However, this did not mean that she would be overtly cautious in her methods -- just more methodical in how she was to execute them. After all, the red from her vision had never fully cleared since her life in Havenward... where her family resided and was slain.

Shingeki no Kyojin History

Viola was born into a rich family that had the comforts of what higher class people would care for to ease their minds from the outside world or of Titans. Within the Yalkell district, her family had been a distributor of dyes and fabrics, and Viola had taken a liking to what equates to ‘fashion’ in a grim world trying to escape from reality. That, and books -- studying also kept many of Viola's worst realisations at bay more times than not.

Because of her family’s relatively busy schedule of keeping stock, marking down their profits, and making sure that there was some form of priority if anything were to ever happen to them, Viola oftentimes tried to prove herself to her family. Mostly trying to catch their attention with something that she designed with the fabrics they had in the store rooms, or with sketches that she left conveniently lying about.

At the age of thirteen was when Viola got to actually witness some of the Military Police doing their training to keep themselves sharp. It was a sight that stunned her because she thought that it looked amazing. The outfits, the style, the ‘zippity do dah’ of the 3D manoeuvre gear… everything about the Military Police amazed Viola, and that was when she decided that she was going to join with them and to the same things they did.

From then on, Viola had mimicked a lot of the Military Police’s stretching and training tactics on her own time since she got minimal acknowledgement at home. She spent a lot of time stretching, running around town, stretching again, and doing an overall rinse and repeat process. Because of most of these overall practises, it got Viola more in shape, and more agile than most since she had no one to practise hand-to-hand combat with.

Because of her self-taught training as well, there were many people in the Yalkell district that found it confusing that a daughter of a rich family would even be considering joining the military. There were others that merely scoffed at her attempts and turned a nose up at her because she was not living for herself in their eyes, but for the people that were below them. While not fully aware of it herself, Viola had come to a subconscious decision to be with those many would consider beneath her if it meant making worthwhile and lasting friends.

Fast forward to where Viola is now sixteen, she has since enlisted in the military because of her neglectful parents, knowing that her overall attitude and personality may not have been too widely accepted within the confines of the military walls. However, she is quick to disregard this, as she is there to make friends, and she is determined to do it with the facade that she had always been used to wearing -- the mask of someone who was outwardly happy despite the turmoil that went on in her mind about how lonely she felt at home... even if there was both Adelina and Barbados there to help keep her company at times. That aside, the military seemed both harsh and critical of the personality that Viola carried.

It seemed that much of Viola's personal training had paid off, as her own skills in speed had earned her a spot in the top ten of her trainee's squad -- which completely and utterly floored her to being speechless for once. Even though Viola had been placed as number ten -- the bottom most rank -- she still carried this with her as proof that she was making positive steps that would earn her some kind of milestone that she was fully capable of doing what others would have previously laughed at her for even daring to say she had it in her. At least, now with the placement, Viola was officially able to enlist to the branch she most wanted to join because it was what inspired her.

The Military Police.

A more grim reality came to greet Viola, as it was found out that the Military Police had been corrupt and lazy individuals -- at least the ones before her had been. It was a disgusting realisation, however, Viola held her tongue for the most part. As far as she was concerned, she was not like the previous soldiers. No... now... after training, and everything else. She had a stronger reason to take pride in her being in the Military Police. Being considered one of the best.

That reason was not boiled down to live in safety. That reason was that she was going to use her best skills to assist in her fight to protect humanity -- more importantly, to assist in her fight to protect the friends she had made, and grown to love.
