• Description

  While I was once a man of fair skin and copper hair, eyes as green as gemstones; time has stolen this from me. My eyes are dark now, dull and lifeless black; a reflection of my stained soul. My hair has lost its color, a dull shade of white. The left side is shaven close to my head, while the right side is left long, allowed to grow out to reach past my shoulders now. My body, while not youthful anymore, is still that of a fairly young man. Muscles ripple beneath ashen flesh, harsh pink scars the only relief from the all encompassing white. Among the many scars there is one in particular that may stand out. Covering my back is a deep scar that was placed there intentionally. It is an ornate cross, behind which rests a circle adorned with runes, stretched behind that is a wide set of wings.

  CRYSTAL CLOAK
  Component: White Dragon Scales
  A swirl of ice and snow enfolds the caster in a cloud of shimmering light. The ice and snow do him no harm, but afford him some protection from physical attacks, or from the elements. In battle, this lasts 3 rounds, 2 if against fire.
  
  FREEZE WATER
  This spell may be used to freeze over an entire body of water if he is able to touch it. It will not freeze the deep water, but will form a crust thick enough to walk across, for when crossing bodies is necessary.
  
  DEATH FROST
  This spell may be cast against any one opponent at a time, though it does take a great deal of energy from him. Freeze time depends on the area effected, though will thaw at a normal rate. Parts of the opponent are frozen solid and turn into ice, causing terrible wounds or killing him outright.
  
  ICE SHARDS
  Sharp icicles fly out from the caster's hand, though one round is required to create them, and another to compell them. Creation is based on successful magic roll, hit is determined by a body roll the following round.
  
  SHIELD OF COLD
  Component: White Dragon Scales
  Shimmering crystals coalesce around him, protecting him from attack. This protection will last 3 rounds. The shield formed is a 3x3 area.
  
  Dark Duality
  This spell can only be cast when the shadows are thick, evening or nighttime typically, unless in a particularly darkened area. It allows him to create a shadow copy of himself, one that can absorb magical attacks for him; physical attacks, however, will pass right through the creature. Lasts 2 rounds, 1 round is needed to create.
  
  Nightvision
  This spell confers a recipient with the ability to clearly see objects in total darkness.
  
  Shadow Leap
  This causes him to gain the ability to use shadows to travel over distances. This spell is easier, and less risky when the shadows are thick. Though, his destination is dependent on the placement of the shadow he emerges from.
  
  Armor and Weapons:
  
  One Elven Longbow and Quiver: Made by the finest of elven hands, it is made from a strong, sturdy wood; though is otherwise unimpressive.
  
  One Frost Sword: This sword appears to be fairly normal, a black handle with a large blue gem set into the hilt, a silver inscription on the blade. This blade is protected to withstand the frost that he creates, otherwise it is also unimpressive.
  
  Three ordinary daggers.
  
  One Shortsword with a slightly curved blade.
  
  Three large, white dragon scales he uses for spell purposes.
  
  Survival Vest: Equipped with pockets and straps to secure the items he carries with him when he travels.
  
  Leather Jerkin.

  Metal cuffs that cover his forearms and calves (fitting around his clothes/boots)
  
  As far as physical combat is concerned, he is well versed in both close quarter and ranged weaponry. He is a skilled fighter and worthy opponent. Though, he is not one to start trouble if it can be avoided. He's seen enough blood and death for his lifetime, and prefers to see no more.

• Biography

  I was birthed into a wealthy family; an only child. I was loved, cherished. There is nothing I can say about my childhood but that it was perfect. My mother was a pale haired beauty, an elf now that I think on it. My father was a red haired man; tall and muscular and every bit what a man ought to be. He taught me a great many things as I grew about how I should act, how to care for myself. While he hardened me into the icon of masculinity, my mother tempered this edge with sweetness. She taught me to take great pride in my appearance, she taught me of magic, of nature, of music. My childhood and adolescence were uneventful, as far as my story goes. It was not til my fifteenth year that my life took a dramatic turn, taking me far away from anything I'd ever known.
  
  
  She was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Young and pale and soft; she was like an angel. She was so sweet, I ached whenever I was away from her. I don't know who she was, or where she came from. She was just there one day, I never questioned why. At first she wanted nothing to do with me; she seemed so shy and fragile. I brought her roses, red roses, every single evening. I wrote songs for her, I brought her gifts. I begged her just to smile at me. After a time she seemed to emerge from her shell, offering me a taste of her sweet lips. One taste and I belonged to her, she owned me; mind, body, and soul.
  
  
  I did not know what she was when first we met, thinking I'd wooed some sweet little angel. I could not have been more wrong. She was something dark, something evil. I couldn't see that, I was wholly under her spell. As I grew, my parents withered away. When they died, I inherited all they had. And I took her for my bride.
  
  
  I was so enchanted by her that I could not see what she was doing. I made decisions based on her word alone, and I never questioned her. She opened a door inside of me that I hadn't known existed, taking me down a dark and deviant road plagued with nightmares and terrible pleasure.
  
  
  I did my best to remain the man that my parents had molded me into; but her will was so strong, it consumed me. I quickly became a spiteful creature, filled with hatred and dark desires. I was willing to do whatever it took to keep her. Little did I know, she was never mine to begin with.
  
  
  I awoke one morning to find my love had been taken from me by some dark entity. Why I did not know, I found only the residue of its presence. So smitten I was by her that I dropped everything, walked away from all I had to go and find her.
  
  I donned my father's armor, one I was not fit to wear by any means. I set out in search of my beloved. For many long years I traveled, for many long years I searched and found not a trace of her. I fought my way through the lands, earning a name for myself that I did not care for. The Red Death they called me, perhaps because of the shock of red that grew from my head; perhaps because I was never without the stain of blood upon my skin.
  
  Finally I found my beloved, found the one who had taken her from me. It was a devil that had taken her; one she'd made a deal with many long years before. I confronted the creature, demanded that he return to me my beloved. But he owned her soul, and she was his now. He agreed only if I brought him the souls of a hundred young women.
  
  What monster would I have to be to complete this task? I do not know. But I know the monster I became. I set out with the intention of giving the devil exactly what he wanted; no matter the cost to my own soul. So, I gathered young women and brought them to him. I never stayed to watch, I never cared. I could hear their screams echo through the halls as I left each time. These screams haunted me, but still I pressed forward. I do not know how long ago that was, many years ago now. I did not age as I should have, the devil made sure of that with his wicked magicks. He wanted to watch me waste away, he wanted to watch as my soul was corrupted for love, while I gave myself wholly and willingly to the darkness for my own selfish reasons.
  
  Slowly the man I'd once been disappeared, this new man taking his place. This new man was cold and uncaring, this new man did not consider the consequences of his actions. I was corrupted to the core, with naught but a spark of hope burning within me. I could change again, I could be whole again once this was finished. I told myself that each day; convinced myself that when she was mine again that I could undo all the years of wickedness with a single kiss from her sweet lips. How wrong I was.
  
  Finally I managed to fulfill my deal with the Devil, I watched as he tore the life from the last of those girls and I wondered how many men like myself I'd hurt in my quest. Was it fair? No. Was it worth it? I thought so.
  
  The devil kept his deal, allowed me to go and take my beloved back from him, to take her home with me. It was not what I'd hoped it would be. She had aged so much, she was an old woman now, while I remained in my prime. She seemed to sense that I was a different man, she could see it in my eyes. She rejected me, she didn't want me anymore.
  
  I wanted to be angry with her, I wanted to hate her, but she was right. I took a long look at myself in the mirror and I saw that I was not the man I had once been. I left her, setting her up in my family home with everything she'd need to live out the rest of her life in happiness.
  
  I left her, knowing that I could never be the man I'd once been. I made my peace with this. I harbor no feelings for her anymore, I am a different man now. I began to seek redemption for my sins. I sought out a temple where I could find a god who would have me. Every priest I found rejected me when they saw the stains upon my soul. Finally I found a temple situated atop a mountain, and I made the perilous journey to the top where I found a priest. He told me that I needed to 'save' twice as many souls as I had corrupted before I could truly be cleansed of my sins. I was willing to do whatever it took to try and get that piece of myself back.
  
  
  So, I did what he told me to do. I laid for many long hours while the image of my new deity was carved into my back, a cross with a circle behind it, accompanied by a great set of wings. The scar from this remains; I was told this was a part of my penance. After that I was given instructions to hunt down the wickedest of men and women, those who had broken the rules set before me by the priest. I was told to use whatever actions necessary to 'cleanse' them, and then to put an end to their suffering so their souls would not perish for their actions.
  
  
  Forced attrition is a powerful thing, it was effective in all cases. Most of these 'wrongdoers' were repentant when threatened, expecting to be released. After each 'saved' soul, I returned to the priest to do my own penance. I took regular beating for my sins, the priest assured me that this would keep my soul clean.
  
  Time passed and I thought that I was getting better, was certain that I could see white where there had once been only red. I completed my penance, and thought that was then end. I couldn't have imagined what they'd ask of me next.
  
  Lying in my room that night, planning to leave the following morning. Try as I might to sleep, I couldn't. Tossing and turning, haunted by nightmares of things I'd done. Why was this happening? I was clean, why did they still come?
  
  I arose from my bed and went to the priest to seek some answers, though what he told me hardly lightened my mood. I had become a monster, I had stolen the lives of far too many, and there remained but one way to cleanse my dark soul.
  
  I was seized from three sides, though they could barely hold me still while the priest began to say a prayer over me. He had done this to me, he had made me this monster I had become. I had done everything he had asked, and he'd stained my soul beyond reprieve.
  
  I barely escaped with my life, my conscious as clear as it could have been. There was no more hope, and so there was little reason to dwell on the negativity now. Though the nightmares still haunt me, even this very night.
  
  I returned home to my once beloved to find that she had died some time ago. I sold everything. My home, all the things within. I could not stay here, not here where so many knew my agony. So, I left home in search of a new place where I could settle in.
  
  Time has been a fickle lover for me; while my body is still young thanks to the aid of magic and my elven blood, I am a withered man. My eyes have lost their brightness, and my hair is white. I am unsure of where this life will take me, but for now it has lead me here. It is here I hope to make my home, here I hope to build a new life. Here, where no one knows of my sins, where no one knows of my past. It is here I hope to survive.
