    As mysterious as she is ancient, nobody quite knows what to make of the Countess of Naju. Her sharp (albeit beautiful) features are almost cruel and her luminous pale skin gives her face the illusion that it was cast from porcelain. It is said that her pale yellow eyes can peer into the soul of any man, woman, or child - though tales of these abilities vary. What is known, however, is that she arrived in Buya almost a century ago - laying claim to Chateau Naju and finding kin among the local tribe of Mudang.

    She is known to use her magical prowess for both negative and positive outcomes, creating a great deal of speculation as to her intentions. It is not uncommon for peasants and palace servants to avoid contact with her when she passes by - as her manner of gliding along with an inhuman grace and fluidity tends to make them nervous. Rumors abound as to how she's maintained her youth over the last century (varying from vampirism to profane rituals), but no claims have been verified.

  • Biography

    Under any other circumstances, Lady Zen Ru of House Ling would have known a normal (albeit privileged) life. Her fate was irrevocably altered at the age of five, for this was when she was chosen by the spirits. Possessed by a demon, she violently murdered her parents. Once the demon left her tiny body, she was left with a fragile mental state and lingering spirit sickness. Taken in by her uncle - the top advisor to the Han Emperor - she remained in the capitol of Han for fifteen years until the winds of fate carried her once more.

    The death of her uncle brought her to the Buyan Empire, where she would inherit her formal title as the Countess of Naju. Moving into the lavish estate Chateau Naju, she began to make a life for herself. It was difficult - as the spirit sickness that still plagued her sapped her energy - but she was happy and felt free for the first time in her life. It wasn't long after she arrived in Buya, however, that a chance encounter with a Shaman helped her to overcome her illness and realize her full potential as a Mudang.
