  Griffin is a stocky, well-built athletic human male who grew up on the Citadel. He has dark black hair in a short, practical military cut, marred by the crease of an old bullet scar across his left temple, just above the ear. He habitally lets his black stubble grow out a bit, giving him a gruff and unkempt look at all times. His eyes are piercing and blue, but usually crinkled in merriment. They grow steely, cold and distant when he is in combat, and his aim is not to be trifled with.
  
  His body is seldom seen outside the carapace of a well worn suit of Explorer-class space armor, rated for N-7 use. He holds the dual ranks of N-7 and Spectre, one of humanity's first agents among the Special Tactics and Reconaissance squad. Following in the wake of the incredibly successful Commander Jane Shepard, Griff was one of the second wave of human Spectres recruited during the period when Shepard was missing and presumed dead following the Harbinger Incident. He fought in the Skyllian Blitz and distinguished himself, earning the rank of N-7 through valor, grit, and determination. He has a reputation for getting along well with alien life forms, some would say too well, and his colorful record shows a history of dalliance with Asari, Salarians, even a Drell in his past. He could usually be found in his off hours in the popular Asari strip club Azure on the Citadel, where he eagerly spent his credits on booze and dances.
  
  Griff was sent on a deep-space reconnaissance mission to investigate rumors of a growing Reaper threat from outside the galaxy. He was issued a special, long-range recon ship with an AI crew and a cryopod for himself to hop in and out of stasis as needed for the long journey between the stars. His ship, the Volante, is a medium sized personnel transport, heavily modified with extensive supplies and facilities for his long-range explorations. Several mech servitors are onboard to operate the less essential ship's systems and a shackled AI manages the whole vessel while Griff is in cryosleep.
