The Cry Of The Witches
Thief!
The cry from withered lips as the young girl ran with precious artifact in her fist. Through the barrier that had held her in their thrall for so long, through the cave mouth, through the forest. Searching for a haven, a safe place, a place to hide.
Thief!
The forest was vast and had changed so much. How long was she in that cave? She slept wherever she found a safe place, or as safe as she could find. She tried climbing into the trees for added safety but she hadn't climbed trees since she was 6. She was out of practice and lacked the upper body strength. She kept going until she finally found a small village, outside the boundaries of the forest, as close as the humans would dare build their homes to the darkness of the forest. She worked for room and board at the Inn. Anything but heavy lifting she did well. She'd had practice thanks to her captors.
Thief!
The cry still haunts her dreams.
She often wakes with a start, the three cries of the sisters still ringing in her ears in the dark silence of her room. Briefly certain she was back in that dank cave with the crones ordering her about, taunting her, teasing her for her weakness and her ugliness. She still hadn't dared look in the mirrors. She couldn't stay here. It was to close. They wouldn't leave their cave but they might send someone...or some thing after her. And besides, she didn't belong here. She didn't belong anywhere, this wasn't her time. But still...
She had to search...
"A child peeked through the mouth of the cave and saw horror."
Taken from her village when she was little, barely the age of 6, the price of her curiosity. She was sent, like a human sacrifice to the three soothsaying crones who eventually proved to be primordial deities. The Graeae(Grey-aye, Gry-eye),Deino(The dreadful), Enyo(The Warlike), And Persis(The Destroyer). Kept in a cave where time has no meaning. She was made to serve them in their near blindness. When she reached the age (if age can have meaning in a timeless existence) of 19 she stole something precious from her tormentors, these Stygian Witches, and ran through the barrier holding her outside of time, in the spirit world. Now free she wanders in a changed world that she does not know or understand. With none of the physical or mental tools needed to survive on her own, she must find something, or someone, willing to help her. But with her upbringing, could she differentiate between good and evil? Would she know the difference if evil got to her first? And what would happen if one discovered what she had stolen?
"And it was that child they chose, that child they took."
One of three sisters known as The Three Graces. The one thing her bloodline has in common with The Graeae. Her sisters, Aglaia(Beauty, Splendor) and Euphrosynê(Joy, Merriment) know why she was taken and who she was taken by. (Note: The Stygian Witches/The Graeae are not The Three Fates/The Norns. The Fates are depicted as Child, Mother, Crone. Not three crones. That is a common misconception. If you wish to argue otherwise I will let you but please do your research first.)
