  Amelia is destined to be the quintessential spinster, with no interest in her personal appearance or style of dress. Her hair is always tied away from her face, she has never worn makeup in her life, and never takes care to prevent freckles. When in town she usually wears cast-off clothes of her older sisters (often clashing colors and styles), and in the field she has the gall to wear the same trousers and workboots as her male colleagues. She is very much nearsighted and must wear spectacles at all times, but she has developed quite a collection of them and switches them in and out based on her needs and whims.
