  The peeling letters on the office door read: L. Baines, Special Investigations
  
  If you venture inside, you will see an old, stained desk, a cheap chair with cracked leather upholstery, an empty filing cabinet, and a scruffy man asleep on the floor.
  
  The man is likely sick to his stomach and drunk. Grizzled features and an unkempt beard, bits of food stuck in it. Covered by a bulky, oilskin coat that looks older than he does.
  
  He wasn't always like this. Nor will he always be like this. But an immortal lives in the moment. And at the moment, he has a stomach full of things a man should never eat... things fit only for a beast.

  Lowell is gruff, the very definition of a 'lone wolf.'
  
  He feels a strong connection to other people, and always desires to help them. Despite his hardened attitude, he does mean well. His circumstances prevent him from making friends, usually; he prefers to help from afar. He gives without taking... yet he has many regrets.
  
  He's been called many things over the years: hunter, killer, beast. He tries to be a protector. In the modern age, he's taken up the mantle of investigator, looking into supernatural happenings, curses, eldritch beings, anything that threatens humanity. And if he finds a threat, he chases it down, and tears it to shreds with tooth and claw.
  

  
  
  

  Immortality

  
  Lowell's immortality works on a cycle, much like the moon.
  
  He ages like a normal man. When he "dies," either by violence or age, his body transforms back into that of a twenty year old. Sometimes he'll take his own "life" in order to return to his prime. This process takes one month, so he must plan accordingly.
  
  Lowell is a kind man, tormented by a pair of curses.
  
  The first: He must take the form of a large black wolf at least once a month. If he doesn't choose to, he will change with the next full moon, and go mad, attacking any living thing in his path and killing them. Nothing can stop him until the moon wanes. After each transformation, willing or not, he wakes up weak, with a terrible headache. The lupine form affords him great strength and sharp senses, but he fears losing his humanity.
  
  The second: In ancient times, he was placed under a love spell. Unfortunately, the witch who cast it was killed by Lowell in his beast form shortly after, but the spell remained. Since the person he was meant to love was now dead, the magic went awry, and now he falls for every single woman who speaks to him. He tries not to let this affect his work, but he's become entangled with many lovers over the centuries.
