• Description

  Dulci is a drow, though until fairly recently she never revealed herself as such unless she was in trusted company. She used to always walk around with a big grey hood pulled over her head, hiding her race from those who would be inclined to give a drow trouble were she ever noticed. Beyond that practical application, Dulci was always a bit self-conscious about her looks; she is distinctly *cuter* than a drow really ought to be, both in appearance and in personality, and while many of her surface-born friends found those quirks not at all problematic, for a long while Dulci felt as if her dimples, innocent-looking violet eyes and rosy cheeks made her appear quite freakish. In the past year or so, she has grown less self-conscious, and doesn't really bother hiding herself any longer. She loves writing, poetry, and music, and is only rarely seen without a notebook in hand.

• Biography

  Dulci rarely speaks of her life before she arrived in The Realm, though the way that she furtively dodges any questions pertaining to exactly why she came to the surface hints that she probably had a reason to do so rather than just to find new material for the poems, stories and songs that she constantly begins, but never finishes. What little she has told about her past really doesn't help to piece together much about her-- she was the youngest of eleven children and the eighth daughter born to the matriarch of a house in a city some considerable distance to the west. Dulci has mentioned that her mother was completely nuts, but has otherwise declined to speak of her family at all. Somewhat recently, one of her sisters turned up-- and continued with the family tradition of completely avoiding discussing the rest of their family at all.
  
  Since arriving in the Realm, Dulci has managed to poke her nose into all manner of things. She has become a writer for the Realmian News, which offers her all kinds of opportunities to investigate things and get herself into trouble. Fortunately for her, she's managed to gather a sizable collection of friends who don't seem to mind bailing her out of whatever she gets into. Dulci initially was a little bit shocked at the kindness of people up here, but as time went on, she grew to accept it without so much of her usual doubt and paranoia. Even more surprisingly to Dulci, she found herself reciprocating their friendship and loyalty, as all that niceness she'd been trying to hide for years found an outlet at last.
  
  Dulcimer keeps a dagger with her in case of emergencies, and has also been known to make good use of a sword when pressed to do so. She has a small arsenal of magic at her disposal, mostly consisting of spells that manipulate light and shadow and some limited Illusion magic. She can be almost infuriatingly brave at times, even to the point of recklessness. In general, though, she truly dislikes violence (she swears that she has never killed anything outside of monsters and zombies!), and would much rather talk things through or use other, craftier ways to defuse potential clashes before anyone must exchange blows.
