  When his feet left solid ground, and he found himself falling straight down a waterfall, a look of horror overcame the thief's face. Quickfoot had suddenly realized something...

  Hidden beneath blue robes and a large turban, this diminutive thief of three-and-a-half-feet with a familiar taunt is definitely recognizable. Crafty, shifty, and a sneak, he has to be good at what he does when he steal eggs and treasure from dragons for a living. With skin as black as obsidian (or are those just heavy shadows from the robes?), he sneers with a mouth that's just too wide and narrowed white eyes full of greed. One would be well advised not to dismiss him for his small stature--he's just as much of a witty little scoundrel as any of his brethren.

• He got away on what!?

  This is Quickfoot's magic carpet, which can seat two people comfortably enough. Bought off a merchant years ago already enchanted to fly, the thief eventually modified it to accommodate his needs: holding onto his loot sack, and holding on while flying at high speeds, sometimes at night.
  
  As a result, it has a lantern magically attached to the front end (which took some magical trial-and-error before Quickfoot could make it stick), and further attached to that is what vaguely resembles the handlebars of a bicycle. Using the drawstrings of his sack, the thief can tie it to the handlebars, sort of "sit" on it like a seat, and hang on for dear life as Azizan takes off.
  
  With purples and reds and golds and some greens, it's a very pretty magic carpet, and Quickfoot takes great care of it. It can be called upon with a sharp whistle and calling its name by anyone, and it clocks in at roughly 35 miles/56.3 kilometers per hour.
