    Belt of Unseen Servant : She carries numerous weapons on her, this item of convenience allows her to easily remove her belt which levitates nearby to act as her 'squire', bringing her weapons while keeping the weapons out of her way.

    Bracers of Armaments : These bracers protect her forearms with light, overlapping plates (over the forearm) and chain mail lining the leather. With concentration these magical bracers can summon a number of simple weapons such as spears, knives, clubs, et cetera.

    Cloak of Regeneration : This durable and thick dueling cloak is in a constant state of regeneration, knitting back any damage done to it. If part of it is severed, it can be reattached. It is resistant to damage from most elements, though it doesn't protect its wearer from those elements.

  • Attributes

    Brilliant in her swiftness she moves with lightning reflexes and strikes like a coiled snake. Her reaction time is phenomenal and with her speed and coordination lending to her reflexes she's deceptively sly in her defense and attack. Capable of swift and agile bursts as well as dashing speed she is able to move along terrain with ease.

    She has a strong, but not exceptionally so, upper body from her work with a variety of weapons. This allows her the use of all but the most heavy and unwieldy weapons as well as the ability to strike hard with them. Though she favors finesse, this strength allows her to properly deflect or block opponents weapons. She, however, is not particularly tough and can not take much physical punishment.

    Not particularly wise or educated she makes many bad decisions that affect her poorly. Her one saving grace is her cunning, which shows particularly in her ability to duel. She is a sly trickster and uses a number of deceptive traits to confuse others or make them hesitate. It also plays a part in her brutal, and somewhat unfair, nature in combat.

    Focusing primarily upon sword play she is a genius with a wide variety of blades. However, where she really shines most brilliantly, however, is her ability to use strategy and effective dueling techniques to overwhelm opponents. She is well rounded with both pole-arms and spears, which she favors second to swords and has knowledge of throwing knives. She is also incredibly well versed in off-handed weapon techniques such as using a dueling cloak, parrying dagger, axes, et cetera.

  • Avatar of Blades

    Clarisse is the reincarnation of a long line of warriors tracing back several centuries to the hero priestess, Kuei-fen. So revered by the Gods for her heroic deeds in life and at time of death, her spirit transcended death and she was reborn. Each generation was unaware, but fueled, by the powerful spirit of their ancestor. Skills of warfare come naturally to each of them, particularly ones of past lives.

    Though each was imbued by the spirit of the hero, not all of the reincarnations have been heroes. In fact some have been mercenaries, privateers, and warlords.

    One attribute they all had in common, however, was their love of swords. From Kuei-fen's Jian, to Ryoku's Katana, to Stefanie's Zweihandler they have all been skilled with a sword and as generations went on, those sword skills were passed along. Soon the spirit of Kuei-fen became the Avatar of Blades, with the aspects of so many swords locked away in her past life memory.

  • Biography

    Raised as a lady, but never able to act like one. She skipped upon her formal education to train under the murderer Edgar Brouzet who was a great duelist. Under his tutelage she quickly picked up on the rapier and saber. Along with several other dastardly talents which only evolved into deadlier tricks as she grew older.

    When she was thirteen Edgar disappeared, but she had a natural talent for the blade and in the three years the young girl had known him had learned a great deal. This was the same year she won her first duel, against a local drunkard who was stalking a woman. After enraging him with insults she was able to taunt him into a duel. In this duel she proceed to stab him several times before he was able to manage his drunken dexterity and draw his blade. He was severely wounded and was left in the alleyway. Later the man went on to tell people several men jumped him and she was spared any legal persecution.

    At age sixteen she was married to the man Albéric De Villeneuve. Their marriage was brief as Albéric went away to fight a war on the continent to the south and was never heard from again. This was when his vast wealth became available to her and she began her expeditions around the world. So apt to learn the skills of blades, particularly swords, she began to amass a cache of skills that was quite impressive.

    First she met the Spaniard pirate Felix Diego who helped her get around the sea. Under his guidance she learned how to handle her footwork on new forms of terrain such as sandy beaches and on the swaying of a ship. She learned about the cutlass and boarding axe, Diego's favored style.

    Though she did not get involved in any of his pirating, she was recognized by a noble Felix had robbed upon the sea, as a member of his crew. A duel ensued and she killed the man. Fearing charges of murder and piracy back in France she crossed over to England for some time.

    Here she met the English knight Sir Ywain la Foret. He taught her about armor (to which she held very little interest) and introduced her to pole arms and the spear. She learned about these weapons as well as the arming sword which he was a master with.

    After some time had passed she went to her next master who was the German sword master Sieghardt Dopfe. A master of two handed blades like the zweihandler and other longswords he taught her many techniques.

    In Italy she met many great sword fighters and spent a deal of time here expanding her abilities. It was also where she met two strange gentleman from the east who became her next teachers.

    The duo of Takeda Gaho and Liao Cheng-ho were two skilled warriors who had a contest with one another. The strange contest involved coming to the west to see who was superior, Chinese or Japanese martial arts. Both hated, but respected one another, and Clarisse became a part of their contest. This is where she learned the jian, katana, dao, and hu tou gou sword styles as well as a number of near spear and pole-arm techniques from weapons such as the yari, naginata, and chánzhàng.

    Always searching for new masters she looks to learn everything she can about the world of blades.
