• Personality

  A quiet individual without many casual acquaintances , Val spends most of his time agonizing over what he considers the formative moment of his life; his murder of an innocent child. To him, this is the center of everything that he does and it shapes his actions accordingly.
  He's thoughtful, still having trouble understanding some human motivations and rationalizations, but does not hesitate to act in accordance to his own beliefs. Though he's often forced to do things he doesn't like due to the commands of the sorcerer he serves, Val is a kind individual at heart and does his best to help others when he is able to.
  Val believes that he'll never truly be able to atone for what he's done, but he's determined to try. In the time since he's become human, he's eager to learn more about the new world surrounding him; nonetheless, he still occasionally misses the simplicity of life before he was cursed.

• Brief Biography

  Born as a common raven, Val was transformed into a valravn when he fed on a dead king's flesh on the battlefield. Given the powers of speech, intelligence, and a monstrous form, he spent much of the next few years singlemindedly seeking the thing that would give him the power to become fully human.
  As time passed and his attempts seemed futile, the valravn grew desperate. It was at this point that he was found by the sorcerer Ashen, who told him the thing needed for the transformation: the heart of a child. A bargain was struck between the two, and in exchange for a year and a day of Val's servitude, the sorcerer gave him the heart of his own son to consume.
  Eagerly, Val accepted the bargain and ate the child's heart, and so was made human. It was not until he had done so that he gained human morality, and realized in horror what it was that he had done.
  Now, he lives as Ashen's thrall, waiting in misery for the day that he will be set free and bleeding from the knowledge of what he has done.
