Darien Kellum

Physically, he's your typical marine. Tall, muscular, short hair. Though considering that most of the time he's wearing armor, you can't really see the latter to descrptors. But when out of the suit, you certainly can. Usually wearing a simple t shirt and jeans when not armored up, he wouldn't really stick out in a crowd. Which is why he has a safe house on the Citadel, because despite the fact that there's so many alliance officers there, he looks so much like other marines, they can't tell he's a wanted man.

Appearance: A typical marine, physically. Tall (at 6' 3"), athletic build, short black hair. Somewhat slim shoulders, He has scars all over his body from various fights, mainly bullet wounds. He has a scar running from his chin to his ear on the left side of his face from a knife fight he got into while raiding a Cerberus transport. He he also has an N7 logo tattooed on his right pectoral, his sister's birthday on his right forearm, and a bit of text in a Krogan dialect on his left shoulder that reads "May my enemies be strong, and my ammo plenty". He got that while drunk on Omega. Typically dressed in a simple t shirt, jeans, and an open zipper hoodie when not in his armor, though that isn't often. Since leaving Cerberus he has repainted his armor to be purple with black accents, and replaced the Cerberus logo with an N7 one.
Strengths: Great in close quarters combat, able to duck in and out of the line of fire easily, can keep spirits high, very open minded, great at omni-tool games, tries his best to make others happy even if it's to his detriment
Weakness: General anxiety, paranoia left over from his days on the lam, not the greatest with social queues, mediocre (at best) pilot, tends to get attached to people too easily, terrible with advice
Fears: The death of his father, the possibility that Cerberus had implanted him with Reaper tech before he got away
History: Born into a poor family on Earth, Darien had high hopes for his future, despite his circumstances. He wanted to be a doctor for most of his life, spurred towards that career because his father was extremely sick for long periods of time throughout his life. But after graduating high school, Darien realized that becoming a doctor would not be feasible, considering how expensive medical school is. He didn't want to put that burden on his already struggling family, nor did he have the means of supporting himself through school.

So he joined the Alliance Navy as a marine, and rose through the ranks until achieving the rank of N7 at the age of 24. But he was dishonorably discharged for insubordination, when he refused to beat a 'deserter' who had simply snuck off for a few drinks with his friends the night before and missed role call. After that, he joined up with Cerberus, needing the money to support not only himself, but his family back on Earth.

A powerful biotic, Cerberus quickly took him into their ranks, augmenting him with their own tech, giving him whips that extended from his gauntlets. He would then surround those whips in biotic fields to give them much more of an impact. However, when he found out that Cerberus was experimenting on soldiers with Reaper tech, he stole a medium sized ship and got out of there.
He's been on the run from both them and the Alliance since then, finding ways to siphon funds from them, each one thinking the other did it. He's just trying to live his life, but other people continue to make that difficult.

But once the Reapers invaded, he took a chance and joined up with the resistance. Figured he'd either die a hero, or survive and get pardoned for working with Cerberus. Thankfully for him the latter was correct, and he managed to hold out until Shepard dealt the final blow. Though he had nothing to do with his newfound freedom, as his two sisters, the only friends he had left, had perished in the fighting. Now he just drifts from one job to the next, sending whatever credits he doesn't immediately need back home to support his parents. He can't go back to Earth and see them. He can't bring himself to face them as he feels responsible for the death of his sisters. If he had just gone home, maybe they'd have survived. But he still carries on with a smile (his sisters would beat him up if he spent his whole life miserable), especially after the Shepard Initiative gave him purpose. It's not much, but it's far better than anything the Alliance or Cerberus gave him.
Personality: An eternal optimist, Darien always tries to look on the bright side, even if there isn't one. Always has a quip to try and lighten the mood, as everyone can use a joke every now and then. Darien is an anxious and awkward man, and uses his comedy to cover for the fact that he doesn't know what he's doing in social situations. Somewhat of an introvert, the kind that are quiet at first, but once they get comfortable around you they don't stop talking. Despite his anxiety he still tries to be a flirt, though somewhat unsuccessful. Thankfully it tends to comes of as endearing, and not creepy. Still has an interest in medicine after all these years, though now it's more of a passing interest since he hasn't had the time to dedicate to it in years. Though he has had time to learn to play guitar and is quite good at it, mostly playing high tempo rock.
Family: Father (Jessie), mother (Katrina) twin younger sisters (Tina and Bella). Sisters are deceased, died in the Reaper assault on Earth
Extra: Prefers using his biotics to fight, using either Charge or the whips installed in his gauntlets to hammer enemies. Though he does carry weapons, mainly an M-27 Scimitar and his old Mattock, they're so underused that the both of them are in practically pristine condition. Then again, if you can tear a Marauder's head off from 6 feet away, the guns are more of an accessory.
