Coming from a wizard lineage, the Primrose family is well-known for their great wizards and witches, along with Maxine, she still has three siblings, whom she is always fighting against to see who is the greatest wizard of them all. Maxine's pure-blooded line has accomplished great numerous feats in the past, remembering the stories that she heard from her parents of their ancestors, on how they were courageous, caring, kind and brilliant, she held it close to her, following those very steps and molding herself that way.
Receiving her wand at a young age, she used it for chaos and also peace, despite the fact that wizards are mostly hated by the non-magi she used it to help treat wounds or fix broken things for her friends, who at the time were children just like her, and didn't mind her magic secret. And those who dared be her enemy would wake up with their feets replaced by their own hands, for a time...
As her friends grew, they started hating her magic as everyone else, society never looked at it as a good thing, so to maintain they close, she had to remove their magic memories, so they remember of Maxine as a good friend and not a wizard.
