    Josiah was raised by a poor family that consisted of a farmer, his wife, and a younger sister. They never had much in the ways of luxury and he was never even allowed to attend a school, instead being forced to rely on what he could learn from his family and those in the village he lived in. His teenage years were wrought with strife as a result of an illness that claimed both his father and his sister. It was as a result of this that he was forced to enlist himself into military service to a local Lord. He was found to have a knack for the bow and became an archer in that Lord's army.
