Nia Flametail

Nia Flametail is a novice adventurer, training so that one day she can become a knight. Nia spent most of her life being taught to follow her heritage, and that meant avoiding civilization. According to her parents, this is because when you get too many people together they become stupid and greedy. "The City" was a swamp that brought out the worst traits in people. So she learned that she should stay around the woods with her kind, and she went along with that. She lived an ordinary but safe life. She couldn't imagine dreaming of much else, or even what "dreaming" really was.

However all of this would soon change when her and family were attacked by a band of goblins in her home. Usually, goblins would stray into this area sometimes and they had no problem avoiding them or taking them out if need be. But it turned out that the few they killed caught the attention of the chieftain, and he sent a large group with a shaman leader to allow for a coordinated attack. This came completely unexpected, and they were overwhelmed by the numbers and lack of preparations. The goblins quickly managed to capture them all and tie them up, and she watched helplessly as her and her family was at the mercy of these creatures. She thought for sure that she was gonna die here.

But just as she had given up hope and just wanted it all to end quickly, she heard the sound of metal clanking and the screams of goblins from outside her window. A few of the goblins near the door went to figure out what was going on, only to have the door kicked down onto them! At the newly formed entrance stood a figure of shiny steel armor. She figured she might of imagined it now, but the person's armor appeared to be glowing with a radiant light. To her, it was as if they were an angel sent from the very heavens. He stepped on the now broken door with all his might, crushing the flithy creature underneath it in a mess of gore. The remaining goblins eyes widened with fear as if they knew this being, like it was death itself knocking on their door. The figure stepped forward and 3 of the creatures lunged at it with their weapons, only to be easily blocked and cut down. The few that remained tried to flee but were running to nowhere, as there was only one way out. Their judgment came swiftly, being cut down easily as they either tried to run past or cowered in the corner until they were slaughtered. Just then, a deep voice came from the figure. "Are you okay?" He said as he cut off their robes. Nia nodded as she looked up at her hero, smiling. "T-Thank you, what is your name?" The man got down on one knee and asked her "Do you know where they came from?" She shook her head and the man looked towards her parents, who shook their heads as well. The man sighed softly before looking back at Nia "I'm sorry but I must move quickly, may the sun shine on you." With that he left and she was never able to get his name. But the impact stuck with her nonetheless, and what took place would change her life.

Nia found for the first time in her life a dream to thrive for. She wanted to be like this man who rescued her from despair. She decided she was going to go to the dreaded city, against what she's been advised her whole life. She would get the experience she needed and become a true knight, and nothing was going to stop her. For days she argued with her parents about it, but they wouldn't budge. They told her that what she spoke of what just idealistic foolishness and that she would quickly regret it if she left. She had hoped she could get them to understand, but eventually had to accept that it wasn't going to happen. So, she had no choice if she really wanted this, she was going to have to do this without their blessing. She forced herself to stay up the next night, waiting for her parents to call to sleep. When it became obvious that she was clear, she prepared to leave. She left her parents a note explaining what she was doing and that one day she would come back and make them proud. She would then tip toe her way out and use some of the leftover firewood to make herself a sword and shield, smiling at her work before setting off for the city.

She wears a basic forest green tunic with a skirt attached, with brown leather boots that reach up to her ankle. She has a wooden straight sword and shield she made herself.

Nia has a strong sense of justice, she believes that the powerful in this world have a duty to help the needy. She is extremely stubborn and will take
it very personally if someone disagrees with her idea of justice. She is honorable and generally doesn't like sneakiness. Fittingly, she's very open about who she is and what you see with her is just about what you'll get.

Due to her secluded life style, she's very inexperienced with interacting publically and she doesn't like small talk unless it's a subject that interests her. She has no experience with romance or sex beyond "the talk". She doesn't know how to flirt, or would know if someone was flirting with her unless it was extremely direct.

Nia is very polite as long as someone doesn't get on their nerves, she's unlikely to really care if someone's rude to her. But in situations where she believes there is injustice she won't budge and will fight for what she believes in. Whether that means an intense argument, or an actual duel Nia isn't likely to back down if her beliefs are on the line. Nia will be down on herself and take it very personally if she does something "unknight like" or really offends a person.

Crafting: Basic level of skill, using wood leather and iron is very common for her tribe. She's very skillful when it comes to those materials, but not much else.


Alchemy: Of course with her natural home being the forest, Nia knows quite a lot about the plants around it and mixing them into potions. She's far from a master, but it's safe to say she can make just about any basic potion and
even some advanced ones.


Archery: This is the main way that Nia would hunt, and hunting was something she did just about everyday. Like most wood elves, she has a natural affinity for the bow and after practice could nail even a small moving target almost 100% of the time. Unlike most wood elves however, she doesn't enjoy it at all. She would never pick up a bow if not for the fact that it was considered a necessity in her family.


Stealth: Nia is perfectly adapted to the forest and knows the terrain well. Sneaking around someone or something isn't difficult for her and if anyone or anything gets near her home she could slit their throat with her dagger before they even know she's there. Such methods felt dirty to Nia and she didn't like it at all, but she did what she could to protect herself and her family. She would have to learn the terrian to be effective at this anywhere else, but regardless of where she is she could run at a moderate speed with a completely silent step.


Sword and Shield: Never necessary or even useful for her way of life, Nia has absolutely no experience with using these weapons. She picked them up only recently because it's the same weapon her hero used and she wanted to fashion herself after him. She's very dedicated to this style in spite of it being pretty much the opposite of what she's been taught her whole life.


Healing Magic: She knows a single curing spell for minor wounds and can only cast it a few times before running out. She very rarely even remembers she knows magic, for the most part potions make the little magic she knows obsolete to her. Could be useful in a pinch, if she even remembers it. She doesn't even remember what the spell was called and if you asked her she'd probably just say "healy thingy".
