Background
As an aspiring magic scientist, Erneste wanted to know everything about magic, so much so that he was obsessed with it. He wanted to find the source of all magic, and prove to others that he was a capable and talented individual, as well as fixing the world with all of the solutions unlocking the source of magic could potentially solve.

His research was at a dead end, however, until an anonymous tip pointed him in an unconvincing direction- a witch who lived in a cavern far beyond the outskirts of the city. Though Erneste didn't believe the stories, he decided to go anyways.

His journey brought him to the exact same cave the tip told him about, and brought him to the same witch the message had spoke of. The witch made him an offer, however- "to get what you want, you must lose that which is truly precious to you.". Erneste figured he didn't have anything of notable value worth giving away, and the source of all magic was a boon beyond mankind's wildest dreams, so he accepted without a moment's hesitation.

From the moment the witch touched him, Erneste knew that something was wrong. His mind and body were changing, and while the source of knowledge was opening up to him, he began to feel strange and 'out of his own body.' He passed out before he could tell what was going on, or even ask the witch for information.

When he woke up, he was outside in the grass with no memory of how he'd got there. As he looked at his hands and eventually the rest of his body, he discovered the unsettling truth- "he" had become a "she".

Since the incident ended, Erneste has been obsessed with a way to break the spell that was put on him. Despite his newfound knowledge, and his access to abilities that would make most magic scientists lose their minds, he swore he would never return until he breaks the curse placed upon him.
Personality
After years and years of traveling, Erneste has become completely adjusted to the life of a wanderer. Completely secure in her own power, she's also become very lazy, and very rarely places herself into interactions unless there's something to be gained from doing so. Even when she does, she's very testy, listless, and potentially short-tempered with people, especially when it comes to interpersonal conflict, and people asking her for favors.

She has another side to her, that she shows when she's getting something that she wants. When it comes to food, clothes, or practicing new spells, she's bright, happy, and active, as if she were a child testing a new object or a scientist studying a new invention.

When she's in combat, she shows the same laziness and lack of attention that she shows in other places. Though she's a high level magical combatant that can set traps and outmaneuver opponents, she rarely ever does so, since it's rare that more than one or two spells are needed.
Powers and abilities:
Erneste has access to Allmagic, which is an ability that lets one see the foundations of how spells work, and figure out how they operate at a glance. The magic needs to be seen in combat or functionally used before it can be studied, but once it is, the process can be mimicked, and the action can be repeated if possible.

In principle, this means that Erneste can repeat any spell if she's seen it once, though the mana, ritualistic preparations, and all other necessary preparations and requirements are necessary to repeat those spells. Erneste can also not copy spells from specific bloodlines or use magic from specific sources, as those fall outside his range of influence.

Though all of this is possible, it's rarely used. The most basic spells Erneste uses are magic spells designed to incapacitate people ("knockback" weave), elemental magic, and small scale teleportation. Allmagic is good at defining spells and splitting them into varied uses, so things such as multiple small scale teleportations and redirecting spells are something that Erneste thrives at.
