Irindwe

A tall, thin woman, Irindwe has the golden skin common to Altmer, as well as their sharp features: a pointed chin, a narrow face with a long, thin nose, high cheekbones, sharp-arched eyebrows, and back-swept, pointed ears. Her eyes are somewhere between light brown and orange, pale and intense, with a fire behind them. Her hair was auburn, once, but age has mixed in enough silver to make it a pale orange-chestnut, in the right lighting coming very close to pink; she wears it looped up in a severe braided bun, except for two thin braided strands in front of her ears. Much of her body--the entire left side of her face, neck, and torso, and both her hands and forearms, though the left worse than the right--is marred by twisted, shiny burn scars, decades old, stretched and wrinkled by age. She generally wears robes and hood, as befits a mage, though she prefers simple and sturdy styles due to her constant traveling.

Hot-tempered and prickly, Irindwe reacts quickly to provocation and holds her grudges for a very long time. Even in positive and neutral dealings, she tends to be blunt, and she can be kind, but rarely gentle. Friendliness is difficult for her, but she knows how to be civil, and she tries never to be cruel to those who don't deserve it. Her praise and her criticism are often delivered in the same tone, because they're both given out of the hope that they'll encourage the recipient to improve. After years of instructing students, she actively seeks out potential in others, but has little patience for those who aren't willing to develop it. As far as Irindwe is concerned, striving to improve is the goal of all life. Being a mentor for so long has also made her deeply protective of anyone she feels responsible for, and quick to respond to injustices or abuses of power that would harm them. She can be sharp to the point of sarcasm with someone who's erred, though she tries not to leap to conclusions--she will ask as many questions as she has to in order to get to the bottom of a situation, and then deal out scorn, or fire, accordingly.
