Amalia Kane

Amalia Kane is sassy and sarcastic with a big heart and a green thumb. She's feisty, and has no filter, often taking advantage of others' lack of sign language knowledge to make crude jokes.

She had meningitis as an infant, which lead to a complete loss of hearing. She has a medical background and is a great healer, often preferring to use a natural remedy or personal skills to handle most illnesses. Amalia is deeply terrified of doctors and hospitals, and so does everything in her power to steer clear. (As a result, she never took up speech therapy, and so never learned to talk properly. She knows a small handful of words, most of them insults.)

Her best friend is a man named Damien who co-owns the flower shop with her. He is fluent in sign language, and often takes up the mantle of her personal translator at work and elsewhere. He is also her living filter, as he often spins his translations of what shes saying into something more appropriate. Amalia loves teasing him in this way.
