Beau Wilder Cinderwhite is a self-proclaimed witch, his god-given magic heavily inspired from fairytales and fables alike. He can turn someone into a frog, enchant animals through song, or even send someone into a long, involuntary slumber. Fortunately for everyone else, he's typically good intentioned and shows great reluctance to use his magic on others even when he ought to. However, true to the nature of picture-perfect fairy tales, using so much of a drop of his magic temporarily warps Wilder’s perspective with a rosy tint. He becomes confident and joyful, and may feel inclined to bust into song even in the most unfortunate of circumstances, much like the fairytale princesses he's spent much of his life idolizing. While Wilder understands that it’s in his best interests to hold back on using his magic recklessly because of this, sometimes he can’t help himself from leaning into the escapism it provides.
Upon meeting him, Wilder gives the personality that he wants to be known for. Thanks to his upbringing, both sheltered and overwhelmingly competitive, Wilder is an introverted, awkward person with an unconscious inclination to desire companionships only from those he deems worthy of admiration, but he can't bear to let others know any of this. In his day-to-day life, Wilder wears a bravado and he wears it well, doing his damnedest to make others believe he's a reliable and extroverted big-brother type of character. An optimist. Altruistic. Confident, easy-going and strong. The picture-perfect image of a prince befitting of the fairytales his very magic revolves around.
Wilder is few of these things.
- Wilder is a pessimist. He expects the worst out of people and situations alike and finds himself often settling for circumstances and relationships that leave him wholly unsatisfied.
- Wilder is courageous in the sense that he is hard to intimidate, but he is not immune to social fears. He has a lot of those, enough to the point that he suffers from a great deal of social anxiety. Fake it until you make it is a policy he often lives by.
- Wilder's only sense of confidence lies in his vanity and the unique magic beholden unto him.
- Wilder is loyal, oftentimes to a fault, to the extent that he could even become self-sacrificial. When he loves, he loves (too) hard, and he can be indisputably biased toward the few people who earn a place in his otherwise not-so-kind heart.
- Wilder is aimless, leaving him unsure what it is he wants to do in life. Thanks to this, he tends to jump from one idea to the next, never really accomplishing anything. With that, plus a natural tendency to doubt himself, the words "I don't know" end up escaping Wilder's mouth more often than he's proud to admit.
