Adalinda

Full grown they are no bigger than the size of a house cat.

Adalinda is a Draconian, an extremely rare species that are somewhat cousins to dragons. About the size of a house cat when in "dragon" form, they don't seem as dangerous as a full grown dragon. This can be extremely deceiving though considering that they are extremely magical, are able to sneak in places a dragon might not, and - the most important - they can shift into human form and walk among the population. In fact, both forms are so natural to them that they are comfortable either direction.

Because of their abilities to shift between forms as well as possess magic, they are often hunted down. Some people like them for pets, others to use them and their magical abilities. It also doesn't help that Draconians are even rarer than dragons, which adds in those who hunt them simply for a trophy.

For this reason, Draconians don't trust well and often try to stay hidden when moving through population areas.

One would think due to their dragon capabilities and the fact they are hunted that Draconians are solitary creatures, preferring to be on their own, much like most dragons. This, however, isn't so much the case. Though they are very often fine on their own, they naturally do like to be around others. Not so much in the sense of having a lot of friends but more in the fact they like to be near others. See, observe, interact at times. It's a major paradox for them as due to being hunted, their instincts also scream to flee. Because of this, they hide in larger cities - giving them both the ability to be around others but also not stick out.

Like all dragons, Draconians are creatures of magic.

Elemental Magic
Like dragons, every draconian has unique elemental magic. Some can control fire, others water, still others ice or air or plants. No draconian has the same magic with even two fire draconians having a wide enough difference on what they can do and how they do it. Though most powerful and able to use their abilities in their "dragon" form, draconians are able to use it in their human form. Though, depending on their skill and abilities, depends on how powerful they are and what they can do in human form.

Healing Magic
All draconians have a strong self healing ability. Though not instant, they can heal fairly quickly, recovering from injuries that might kill a normal human. This magic is default and works regardless of their form. Some draconians have the ability to heal others though this is usually tied to their unique magic. It is said though that one bonded to a draconian will also automatically have their same self healing abilities.

Shifting
Perhaps one of their strongest assets, Draconians have the ability to shift between their human and "dragon" form with rapid ease. This makes them very hard to catch sometimes and allows them to try and blend in and escape while in human form.
Like all shifters though, they do have the disadvantage that with a rare exception anything they have on in one form will not shift or change while going to the other. Shifting from human to draconian, this means clothes, jewelry, and anything on them will fall to the ground. Piercings are something they rarely wear as it would still remain on them, as it's pierced to their skin. Thus why they are rarely seen with it.
Shifting from draconian to human, anything on them (like a normal bracelet) would not change size - thus could be a bit painful for them and is avoided. They also have to deal with the fact that they need to quickly find clothes to avoid being seen nude.

A few exceptions to this is something like jewelry that is magicked: a collar or bracelet. Whatever it is, it has to be spelled to adjust and work with the shift in size and form without causing issues. This is usually only seen in draconians who are captured and enslaved.

Bond Magic
Probably the biggest reason they are hunted, draconians have special bond magic. When they form a unique bond, there are abilities that are passed on to the bonded human (or elf). Self healing is one but there is also the aspect of extended life (allowing a human to live far longer than normal), and - in some cases - even be able to use magic.
Like their elemental magic, every draconian bond magic is different. But as a whole, it is something that makes them wanted.

Note on bonding
There is no clear understanding of how one can be bonded to a draconian. It isn't a choice by the draconian nor is it always a healthy bond. You have draconians who bond to someone they love and together are better. But you also have had draconians bond to a cruel master. It's unknown exactly what causes the process though many suspect the draconians know more than they let on.

Adalinda is an ice Draconion. Her specific powers are tied to ice and lightning, including powerful ice storms. Because of her magic, the cold not only isn't an issue for her but is something she thrives on. She prefers colder regions of the world and tries her best to avoid more tropical or desert regions.

Being on the run most of her life, she considers herself a bit isolationist as she doesn't truly trust people due to the fear of what they might do to her or want.

She has never bonded with anyone at this stage nor has she seen another of her kind.
