• The Basics

  Name: Kotick Isedna

  Human Form
  In his human form, Kotick stands at about 5'10". He is very compact; although shorter than many, he is muscular and very strong. His hair is very dark brown, moderately curly, and reaches his lower back; he keeps it back in a tight braid to keep it out of his eyes. He has a medium-length, dark beard; he cuts it himself with a knife if it gets too long, and so it is not particularly neat. His face is rough, with heavy eyebrows and a prominent, aquiline nose, but his eyes are light, gray-blue and striking against the deep tan of his skin. His shoulders are broad and his hands are proportionately large. He is neither particularly fat nor particularly cut; there is a layer of fat above the muscle, but it generally makes him look more beefy than pudgy. He has several tribal tattoos- a seal covers much of the left side of his face, with the fins extending down to the sides of his neck; fish, waves, and designs of the moon and sun cover his left shoulder, side, and chest. He has long, deep scars down his chest and stomach, pale pink and white still after several years. There are scars on the side of his face, too, though they are neither as striking nor as large. His right ear is pierced and gauged, and he wears a bone circle in it. His clothing may vary, but he always carries a massive walrus skin with him, either tied around his waist or slung over his shoulder.
  
  Walrus Form
  
  When he puts the walrus skin on, Kotick takes his True Form, a large Pacific walrus. At about 13 feet long and well over 1,000 lbs, with tusks that are longer than two feet, he's pretty intimidating. Not the fastest thing on land, but intimidating.
  
  Senses
  Sight- Very poor. Kotick is rather nearsighted.
  Hearing- Better than average.
  Smell- Excellent
  Vibrissae- In walrus form, Kotick has extremely sensitive whiskers. In human form, it's just your average beard.
  
  Intellect
  His intelligence is average, and his thirst for knowledge is, to say the least, a little lackluster. Kotick was raised among Selkies, and as such, the human language is not his first, and he hasn't had an easy time learning it. He is functionally illiterate, knowing only a few basic words, and has trouble with long words and fancy syntax. His own grammar and vocabulary slip when he's nervous, passionate, or under stress. It doesn't seem to bother him- Kotick is a man of simple tastes, in life and in self-expression. This simplicity often may make him seem to be less than intelligent, which he doesn't particularly mind people thinking. He is very superstitious, and is cautious around fancy knots, strange crystals, and unfamiliar runes.
  
  Personality
  Kotick is not quite human, and doesn't really process things in a human way. He is patient, almost sedate, and seems most of the time to be peaceful. He takes care not to show fear; it doesn't factor into the relations of his species, among which such displays may cost a member of a Clan to lose vital footing in a struggle to be dominant. And so the main cues to his emotions are generally how fluently and capably he manages to speak; high emotions make him stutter and forget his words and grammar. He responds to threats and displays of violence with calm curiosity and rationale before engaging in a fight; he generally prefers not to risk his own well-being. He accepts violence as a fact of life, however, and switches seamlessly between his peaceful, quiet nature and a much more brutal facimile. Death is a disappointing finanlity to anyone, in his mind, but he isn't distraught by the idea, and he is efficient and practical in self-defense and taking advantage of a situation, whether it is killing an enemy while the other is distracted, or looting something valuable off a corpse. He speaks slowly, sometimes forgets to change his expression when socially appropriate, and suffers from incurable wanderlust. He tries not to get attached to people, but is a bit of an extrovert and thrives off the company of others.
