  personality: even-tempered, intellectual, social, and sharp as nails, but his chosen profession yields an uncharacteristic wanderlust and drive for the peculiar. afraid of very little of the world's danger and interested in even less outside of his passion, the man is very dedicated to his world of unnatural, rare beasts, and the challenge that comes with understanding them. there is little he will not do to sate his well-trained eye and research of mythological creatures. outside of his career, he is conversational and rather generous, but grows weary with repetitive schedule or idle, shallow chit-chat. he is a difficult one to pin in one place for too long. overall, the doctor was well-off and comfortable and it seemed that his greatest desire was to disrupt that to the best of his ability.
  
  possessions: generally only carries his field book, writing supplies, and protection in a small bag with him at all times. he also has a passion for collecting odd, mythical wares, with his few prized possessions being:

  aesop: a leucistic shifter, aesop is a white with odd shades of gold shapechanging beast that the doctor had first encountered when he was very young, and, coincidentally, was what spurred his interest in such beasts. it often takes the form of red-tailed hawk, stag, or serval. he is griffin's companion, protector, and greatest tool in his hunt for the supernatural. they are generally inseparable.

• profession

  Griffin is a cryptozoologist, or someone who researches beings that may or may not be real. He is an avid explorer, talented tracker, and incredibly observant man who has found a way to turn a hobby into a career. He is incredibly knowledgeable, well-read, and is a very detail oriented man. He has dealt with many strange, fantastical creatures, but still has many holes yet to fill in his research. Dr. Eaves makes his living off of publishing research papers.
  
  On the darker side of things, he has been known as an informant to poachers, or those seeking mythological wares for medicinal cures or other such magics. His research is always paramount, but when he has found all about a species as there is (or he cares for), he soon loses his attachment to the creatures and is not above initiating a tip to poachers if he is approached, or even taking the dead of such species and selling their wares in less than legal markets.
  
  In times of great financial hardship, Griffin also offers a service where he will track, capture, and tame a creature (that he is familiar with), but only for what to many comes as an insurmountable sum. This is very dangerous, time consuming, and against his greater 'morals', and Griffin does not take pleasure in doing it. This is a rare practice, and only comes in times of dire straits.
