• Biography

  A petite, short girl with a pronounced Asian build, Maere has jet black hair that falls loosely down to around her shoulder blades and often strays into her eye line. She often chooses to keep a bright red ribbon fastened above her forehead to the left. Her skin color a light color, only a few shades more cream-colored than sickly white. An almost immediate observation one might draw drawn from her cloudy, blue-grey eyes is one of listlessness, however further inspection reveals something not quite right about her stare. Her mode of dress is borderline paranoid, however she refers to it as 'conservative', usually choosing an embroidered black blouse with a single stitched-in chest pocket, and a matching, off-white pleated skirt that rustles lightly around her ankles, just above her dark brown dress shoes. One will rarely ever spot her without her favored leather handbag.

  Born under the name Jun, Maere Eschaton is a young witch who had been raised, unaware of her heritage, by her grandfather in a secluded village forgotten by the outside world. Due to frequent bouts of weakness simply referred to as "heart illness", she was considered a runt and spent most of her years working ledgers to keep track of crop inventory. Her bizarre life led her to have few friends, however she found a close one in a child her age named Osu, and the two played together when they had free time. Around the time that the tribe was searching for candidates for the Ritual of Dominance, Jun's ailments caught local a local shaman's attention. She was unwittingly drawn into candidacy, her innate knack for sensing illness and weakness discovered. Bored with a life of just counting crops and dried food, she had readily accepted and was chosen as the village's Tabernacle of Darkness for the decade. Now titled Maere, the fragile girl underwent a multitude of withdrawals and, following her rejection by Osu, she quietly left the village, telling only her grandfather. With only a few necessities and the a pair of sun-resistant glasses given to her by her grandfather, she set out to travel to continent for several years with her Familiar and teacher, Rigan. The two had a string of misadventures before a haunting dream lulled her into another world...
