• Davkas Loyalar sat down on an upright sealed barrel of dried goods. The cave was damp but well lit by periodically placed torches bolted into the walls. He had been instructed to wait here until he was retrieved. The entire situation was creating a deep sense of unease ever since he passed through the northern gate into Dunholt. If it wasn't for the sack of gold coins he had in his traveler's pack then he would have never left his homeland in the northern wastes. The weather around Dunholt was not what he would personally consider cold, but winter was fast approaching for the city.
  He pulled a strip of dried jerky from his side pouch and munched in silence. The man looked out of place here where the occasional trading company employee passed through. They all wore custom tailored uniforms with the Eastern Dervish insignia. Davkas on the other hand was dressed in a brown and gray traveler's outfit. His medium length brown hair was a ruffled mess, pushed to the sides. After nearly an hour in the cave for which he wondered if his hosts were going to keep to their word... a man in nondescript clothes ventured from one of the tunnels to the north. He approached Davkas and asked, "Are you the courier?"
  "Yes, I have the documents in my pack," Davkas replied. He produced a rolled up pair of documents that contained information regarding a rogue trader that had made a mess in Dunholt recently. The trader made a series of false trades for credit on behalf of the Eastern Dervish trading company, sending them into debt for their port operations.
  A second sack of gold was handed to Davkas and the two parted ways. Once Davkas was out of the cave he went immediately to the closest market. His goal was to spend all of the money on armor, weapons, and gear. He never planned on returning to the northern wastes that he called home. He knew he could make more money exploring and freelancing for wealthy merchants.
  Davkas acquired half-plate armor, a masterworked greatsword, daggers, composite long bow, and traveler's supplies including rations; a bedroll; climbing gear and torches. Now he was ready to look for work or rumors of riches.
• Davkas comes from the decrepit city Kassarn in the northern wastes. The population numbers in the hundreds and the people there manage to survive in hardship against the frozen land and harsh weather. They are skilled hunters and craftsmen. Davkas was the lead of a hunting party for most of his life. His job was to explore and track, to find food for the town. In return for his kills he was supplied with a house by the carpenters and tools by the blacksmith. Travelers are rarely seen this far north, so when a mysterious merchant showed up in town it was big news. The man asked Davkas to take a message south to the city of Dunholt for a reasonable sum of gold. Davkas thought this would be an excellent opportunity to explore the world and escape this wasteland of winter.
