• The World

  Latice comes from the kingdom of Aratia (Ar-ay-shea). Aratia is divided into two main sects: The Children of the Earth, who posses no magical abilities, who consist mostly of farmers, merchants and knights & The Children of the Moon, people with the ability to manipulate different types of essence, all of which become Wizards of their proficient essence control.
  
  The kingdom is surrounded by a wall of magic that prevents the entrance of monsters and animals that would otherwise harm the villagers. It is powered by all of the Masters of Majors, or better known simply as the Wizards. There are a few hunters, warriors that live in towns that exist outside of The Wall, but are often considered poverty ridden. Over 80% of the world is untouched by man and is thought to be a disc shape within a perpetual gyroscopic machine.

• The Inhabitants

  The Children of the Moon, also known as the 'Infused', are identified by their brightly colored eyes (blue, green, pink, orange, etc.).* These people are further broken down into groups based on their natural affinity to a certain element of essence. The classes are first separated by the classification between Order and Chaotic, then further between Fire, Water, Earth, Air as Majors, and finally combinations of majors into minors (See flow chart).
  The children are taken as babies from their families and raised by a Handmaid until they are old enough to show their affinity, around age 5-6. After being sorted into their affiliated sect, they are set up with room mates of the same class, these groups of 3-4 children are referred to as a Coven. A Coven shares the same Mage, or Covenmother/father, and are taught in nearby classrooms. Depending on how proficient an apprentice is at their allocated magic, they will be paired up with a Page from the Rune Knight Academy.

  The Children of the Earth are seen as equals by the Magical folks, have grey or black eyes and surpass the Infused in physical prowess and take to more laborious jobs as Handmaid, farmer, millers and other industrial positions, as well as the coveted Rune Knights. Rune Knights are soldiers that train at an early age and are paired up with an Apprentice Wizard, to act as their body guard.
  It is often to see orphaned children from outside The Wall come into the city and be adopted into the Rune Knight Academy, other times it is more likely the second-oldest child of workers that decides to join. The Academy prefers to accept older children of age 8 and older, but will make exceptions in the case of homeless orphans. After 4-5 years of solid physical regiments, they are boosted from the rank of initiate to Page. Pages are then assigned to random apprentice and are expect to cultivate a strong partnership and prevent the apprentice from being hurt in battle.

• Page & Apprentice Relationship

  After at least a year and when the pair are old enough, they go on a quest outside The Wall to gather materials for enchanting a suit of armor and the page’s choice of weapon. The armor and weapon are then enchanted by the apprentice with their affiliated essence, preventing the page from getting harmed by the apprentice in battle. The weapon can be enchanted with an element different from their partner’s, but this prevents the apprentice from super-charging the weapon in battle.
