• Description

  Basic Description:
  
  Before you stands an Appaloosa femme, face surrounded by a wild mane of white hair with black and brown streaks. The equine's eyes are an airy blue, and her dark muzzle ends in a lightly mottled nose. Her hide is mostly a dark chocolate in color, rear dappled in white spots; the mark of her breed. The mare is clothed in a black leather top fastened with silver buckles, and a short loincloth made out of the same material. Her black leather belt is equipped with various utility items such as a knife, rope, and dirty bandages. She appears tall and solidly built, not the slightest bit willowy. It is obvious from the coarse, unrefined way in which she carries herself that the horse knows little more than a simple life of hard labor.

  Weapons
  - Weapon - Knife - a simple utility knife. It is not meant to be a weapon firstly and does little damage to someone who is armed and prepared.

• Biography

  Appearance:
  
  Carmelle is an anthropromorphic equine female. She is an Appaloosa breed of horse with a mostly dark brown body, fur darkening to almost black at the end of her hands and feet. On her back is a large, white patch made up of dense white spotting, the characteristic markings of an Appaloosa. She has regular horse's hooves for feet, and her legs are digitgrade. Her hands only have three fingers, each "nail" being something of a mixture between human hands and hooves with short, stubby fingers ending in hard hooved points. They are somewhat less dexterous than true hands, but more powerful when used for punching or forceful work.
  
  Outfit:
  
  Carmelle's "work uniform" is a black leather harness with many silver buckles, a short leather loincloth and big leather belt, all in black. She also has other gear such as a bridle complete with bit, but she rarely wears those unless her specific job that day demands it. When not working she usually throws a simple, loose black tunic over her harness, fastening it with the belt. However, her leather is always on underneath because she is always on the hunt for new work, ready to do draft labor at a moment's notice.
  
  History:
  
  Carmelle was born Carmelle Darkthorn to the Darkthorn Appaloosas, a well-established and large family with many generations of farmers and quite a bit of land under their name. She grew up a farm girl, leading a hard but simple life with her days being full of chores on the farm such as tending to the crops, hauling water and the like. As equines themselves every bit as strong as their four-legged counterparts, her family did not need to raise and manage horses and instead often strapped in a harness and bit and did the work themselves.
  
  The Darkthorn farm was right next to the land of the Firebrand Mustangs, their supposed rivals. Their rivalry was once a full-blown feud but had since simmered down after nearly a century of pointless back-and-forthing, the original reason for the feud becoming long forgotten and their rivalry softening into something of a joke.
  
  One day, Carmelle visited the racing track to find a young Firebrand male there about their age participating in the races, sprinting up and down the track: A young black Mustang with white, curly hair named Marcus. Carmelle was smitten, and it was not long before they became lovers. After a whirlwind romance, they married, and the Firebrand set a small piece of land aside for the young couple to raise a family of their own.
  
  However, a few months into their marriage Marcus was coming home later and later at night, before sometimes disappearing altogether. Carmelle suspected infidelity, but said nothing - until one day, she came home to find a mare leaping out of their bedroom window as Marcus scrambled under the covers. The next time anyone saw Marcus, he was buried under the floorboards of a nearby building and Carmelle had vanished.
  
  The incident reignited the feud between the Firebrand and Darkthorn family, each one blaming the other; the Firebrands believed Carmelle murdered Marcus in a jealous rage, while the Darkthorns believed she was innocent and he had met his end at the hand of one of his many other lovers. Either way, Carmelle was not around for either family to ask - by the time he was found, she had packed up everything she owned and skipped town.
  
  If asked, Carmelle will mourn her husband's death and claim that his soul is "now with her forever." However, she prefers not to talk about details.
  
  Personality:
  
  Carmelle believes in hard physical work and not much else. She looks down on mages, alchemists, and others who pursue more scholarly pursuits, feeling that they are less practical arts than "getting your hands dirty". She is practical, but narrow-minded. She can be a bit stern and old-fashioned, but is a warm person underneath it all and will step up immediately to aid someone who truly needs help - if she thinks so, at least.
  
  Carmelle is usually very pleasant and even tempered. She is simple, and does not have a very large vocabulary. Often, she is more of an observer and a listener rather than a talker. However, after a drink or two, she can become quite loud and even abrasive. She is usually jolly and lighthearted, with an almost unrealistic level of optimism. Nothing seems to get her down.
  
  Although her patience is almost endless, if pushed to a point of anger she quickly becomes a different person. She will become volatile and prone to violence readily putting whatever weapon she has on her person (or any blunt object nearby) to good use. She describes herself as a stick of dynamite with a long fuse; it takes a long time for her to get wound up, but if she does it's an explosion.
