• Description

  An absolutely bizarre creature, if it could be called a creature at all.
  
  Thimble is a Mechanical Body governed by an Artificial Intelligence Core.
  The body resembles that of a large worm, segmented plating able to undulate to propel it forwards. the head is a diamond which opens outwards into a maw full of macerators and grinding apparatuses, along the back edge of the body are a number of nodes containing sensor clusters, mechandrites and accouterments both offensive and defensive in nature. Optics are located in four clusters of three lenses around the outer angles of the head. The coloration is mostly black on the plating decorated with red trim, with natural mettalic colors retained for other components, the maw's grinding innards are stained a dark rust.
  
  The machine was imprinted with an intelligence designed to make it more foreward thinking, mimicking the thought-processes of organics to create a machine that could operate for extended periods without input, but was also easier to command, able to parse complex instructions and come to it's own operational conclusions in the field. As such it is capable of forgetting things, telling lies, it has preferences, desires and similar sentient qualities.

• Biography

  Disposal Unit- Thimble was an advanced Starship Dismantlement and Repair Unit. Every starship was issued with at least one such robot, as a build-up of waste material could become a major problem for vessels who could spend years in the void and were often required to maintain a sterile environment aboard. Disposal Units quickly evolved repair, diagnostic and even material replication facilities as the demand for them changed to a more universal role: Every ship had one; some had dozens... some had thousands. They took many forms, but for the purposes of moving on the outer hull and through difficult spaces, the Snake or Worm design was the most popular.
  
  Thimble represented a military model most advanced, taking the role of technician, computer interface and armed to repel boarders and pirates; but the core function would always be to devour, something that lived on into it's intelligence core psyche.
