  THE BEGINNING

  Theodore Roman Kane was born on August the first, in the country of Canada, on the continent of North America, on the planet Earth. He was born to a mother and a father, and had no siblings for the first few years of his life. He was a normal boy from the outset. He enjoyed running and playing, chatting and playing, falling and playing, and sports. He was everything that his parents wanted from him, and everything that they'd ever hoped he would be. As time passed and he grew up Theodore continued to please his parents, eventually coming to regard their happiness above his own.
  
  Puberty was a rough time for the boy, and there were very few people that he thought he could trust. He had been raised a strict and devout Christian, and the preacher said that the desires and wants he was feeling were wrong and yet... they felt so right. His entire life was being turned upside down and shaken, and he had no one that he could turn to for help.
  
  As a part of his studies in school, Theodore had to maintain a pen pal for at least three months, this became his outlet. He was assigned to a boy in Africa, and as they swapped stories back and forth they began to learn about each other, their cultures and Theodore felt closer to someone that he had in a while. He told his pen pal things that he told no one else. He told him about his secret desires, about his secret fantasies, and about the sins he committed late at night when the rest of his family was asleep. It felt good to let it out, it was a confession of sorts, and it relieved a great deal of his guild.
  
  As Theodore told his pen pal all his secrets, the boy on the other side of the letters told Theodore all of his. They had many things in common. Both boys were struggling with sexuality, Theodore was struggling with the fact that he thought he might be gay, and his pen pal was struggling with the more advanced concept of whether he, a boy with AIDS, was allowed to have a sexuality at all, or if he should just write off that part of life and move on, filling the gap with other things. They both struggled with sin, Theodore's were based around his burgeoning sexuality, issues such as masterbation and pornography, and the relative morality of both. His pen pal once again had different worries, his sins were selfishness and stealing. He grabbed more food than he should, when he thought he could, and sometimes the members of his family had gone hungry because of it, other times he ate some of it before he got home, and all the members of his family suffered for it.
  
  Even after the project was over, Theodore and his pen pal stayed in contact. Writing to each other once a week, and growing their bond stronger and stronger. They resolved that they would one day meet. However it was not to be. Theodore's pen pal passed away due to complications of his illness before Theodore could get up the money to visit, and having lost the only person that he felt he could confide in, Theodore was crushed. He locked himself away from the rest of the world and withdrew.

  
  
  

  TAKING THE NEXT STEP

  Devastated by his loss, Theodore cut himself off from the rest of the world. He withdrew deep into his own mind, and for the first time in his life, let his parents down. Theodore sunk into a deep depression and lost sight of the world. His depression lasted for years, and it was close to the young man's twenty-first birthday when things changed. Theodore went for a walk in the woods beyond his parents house, something that he hadn't done very much of in the past few years, and he never made it back. He stepped between two oak trees that had grown entwined, forming a neat little arch between them, and found himself in a new world... a world where very few things actually made sense.

  
  
  

  THE OTHERWORLD COLLEGE OF MAGIC

  
  Otherworld was exactly what he'd needed. Surrounded by all these differences Theodore couldn't help but forget his troubles. After wandering for a few days he found his way to a small building, or from the outside it looked like nothing more than a run down one room shack, stepping into it however he found himself in the largest building he'd ever seen, it looked like something out of Escher's 'Relativity', and from then on he was stuck. Being human he was immediately enslaved, and stuck cleaning.
  
  Over the next couple hundred years he changed, his humanity fading away as the weird magics of Otherworld warped him into one of it's native beings, he eventually became a student at Otherworld Preparatory School, and then graduated to the Otherworld College of Magic. After spending the requisite two-thousand years of study, he graduated there too. The next thousand years were spent in study and training, utnil he was offered a job teaching at the College, in the department of Universal Application.
