Background

Matrox began as Ravox, a prominent mage in a college for upcoming arcane magic users. He soon learned of the path to immortality and sought after it diligently. His other classmates of course wanted it as well, but he was obsessed. He would allow nobody, not even his family to get in his way. At 16, he discovered that a mage could open a portal to the immortal plane, but would have to go through intense trials to become immortal. When he was 18, his parents and closest friends tried to talk him out of the idea of becoming immortal, but he wouldn't listen. He went alone to a cave deep in the woods to open the portal. Half way through the spell, his father came and interrupted him. He tried once more to convince his son to stop, but he wouldn't listen. Ravox killed his father so he could continue the spell. He opened the portal and stepped through. When he emerged, after what seemed like a lifetime of trials, his friends were there, but he was a new person. He had become immortal, and taken the name Matrox. His lust for power, however had corrupted him. When his friends and professors questioned him extensively, he simply killed them to remove the nuisance. Now, he roams the world, looking for any who would join him in his quest for supreme ruling of the immortal plane, trying to find ways to kill immortals and overthrow them.
