• Magic

  Iocco is a warlock and specializes in dark magics. He wields ancient and vengeful sources of power to control and manipulate as well as summon and lead creatures of otherworldly origin.
  
  Abyssal Magic
  
  Abyssal Magic is relative to the planes of demonic entities of a realm of chaos and destruction.
  
  Evocation of Hellfire : Hellfire is a type of energy resembling the attributes of fire - it destroys what it touches and gives off intense heat. Hellfire, however, is not mundane fire. Hellfire may only burn living creatures - though it may adhere briefly to non-living surfaces - and can not be put out with water - or other forms of smothering. It may be extinguished through any source of holy energy and can not be cast on holy ground.
  
  Curse of Destruction : This curse evokes a single destructive entity on a target - death, famine, plague, and war.
  

  • Death curse is a strong jolt of negative energy which saps the life force of the one cursed. This energy will render the target physically weak as well transfer negative energy to living creatures - killing smaller ones (birds, cats, dogs) and temporary weakening larger creatures (such as humans, orcs, elves) - that the cursed one touches. This negative energy draws in the undead as well, who can have a range of interests ranging from curiosity to a desire to feed upon of the one cursed.
    
  • Famine causes all food touched to turn to ash.
    
  • Plague inflicts a number of hideous diseases upon the cursed - often resulting in sightly rashes, pox, coughing, vomiting, and other terrible effects.
    
  • War puts the victim of the curse in a constant state of unstable and violent rage. This curse has an empathic aura that causes others to desire to hurt the cursed one - particularly those that are war-like or suffer from issues of rage as well.

  
  
  Infernal Magic
  
  Infernal magic is relative to the plane of devils, where creatures of knowledge and deception reside.
  
  Curse of Sin : A curse of sin exacerbates the targets desires to the point that they have painful withdraws, but prevents them from receiving satisfaction.
  

  • Pride curses the victim with failure. No matter how hard they try to accomplish even the most basic tasks they will persistently fail.
    
  • Wrath curses the victim with weakness and rage. While cursed they have a desire to hurt others, but find that they're unable to lift a hand against them. While cursed even the most mild insults are believed to be grievous.
    
  • Greed curses the victim with poverty. Items of value slip from their hands out of their control. Even containers such as bags filled gold can not be held as they fall away.
    
  • Lust curses the victim with impotence and illness when confronted with a sexual situation - leading to vomiting, intestinal distress, and weakness.
    
  • Gluttony curses the victim with the desire to eat, but never feel full. The curse will cause the victim to eat any food he or she sees compulsively.
    
  • Sloth curses the victim with insomnia, preventing them from sleeping though keeping them persistently fatigued.
    
  • Envy curses the victim with the desire to take anything they consider valuable from those around them - including lovers, children, and friends - but are entranced at the sight of the object and may only stare at it until it is no longer within sight.

  
  Invocation of Truth : This infernal spell rips the truth from a target - though that target may word that truth however they please. A single entity may only be affected by this spell once a day. This spell may not take effect on holy ground and creatures of divinity - or creatures who have devoted their life to a divine cause or entity - are more resistant to its effects (possibly immune).
  
  Infernal Summoning : Summoned infernal creatures are kept to the confines of their summoning circle and bartered with for knowledge. There is often an exchange for the knowledge and the devils are prone to lying or manipulating the truth to get the best potential deal. Higher level devils are more dangerous but have the best obtainable knowledge.
  
  Beguiling Tongue : A single lie is told with a infernal energy that makes the listener believe it to be true - no matter how outrageous. This may only target one making eye contact with the caster. Anyone not making eye contact can hear how ridiculous or unlikely the lie is, though may have difficulty convincing the one being lied to (depending on the closeness of their relationship).
  
  Eldritch Magic
  
  Eldritch magic is summoned from creatures much like gods who wield cosmic and ancient energies, but are more primal in nature than celestials or abyssals.
  
  Mists of Madness : All perceptions are altered within this fog. Hallucinations come quickly, creatures of horror surrounding those inside. The mists become impossible to traverse, often leading victims around in circles endlessly - even if they believe they are going straight. And, perception of time is altered most of all, as even a minute within the mist can become days as the mind ramps up towards insanity. This fog is maintained by channeling, if the caster fails to continue his channel, the mists fade away quickly. Those with immunity to illusion are merely visually restricted by the thickness of the fog.
  
  Dread Aspect : An object or creature is given the (illusion) visage of an eldritch god causing unbearable terror in those who look upon it. This fear is unshakable, but the incredibly brace may ignore it enough to simply refuse approach - rather than run or rebuke in fear. Those immune to fear and or illusion are not effected. Those weakest to the effects of fear rebuke in horror, while those who are less cowardly are compelled to flee, and those who are truly brave are forced to hesitate, becoming less likely to and slower in combat, or even confused.
  
  Black Magic
  
  Black magic invokes ancient forces of darkness upon others - cursing and/or hexing them.
  
  Vomit of Abominations : A curse that causes the victim to vomit vermin endlessly. These creatures vary from rats, to salamanders, to slugs, and snakes. The curse is non-lethal to all except the most vulnerable, but does take a massive toll on ones endurance and prevents sleep.
  
  Curse of the Venerable : A curse that saps the life force from a creature, causing them to rapidly age. This curse is non-lethal, but the side effects can put the target in a lethal situation - brittle bones, weakness, and vulnerability to disease can all kill. The effects last for about one week, the middle of which the target of the curse is the most elderly as the spell takes time to ramp up to their maximum age. After that they slowly shed their extra age and return (by the end of the week) back to their original age.
  
  Curse of Thorns : This curse causes all pain dealt - both physical and mental - to be reflected onto the cursed. Emotional trauma is multiplied several times and physical damage is replicated onto the cursed's body.
  
  Swarm of Vile Insects : This large curse summons a massive horde of biting insects. These insects sting and bite those they come in contact with infecting them with a disease that causes rashes and profuse sweating.
  
  Hex : A hex is a brief surge of bad luck which can cause a seemingly random thing to backfire and destroy ones plans. These hexes give surges of negative luck resulting in mishaps. Smaller hexes can be cast at short distances, causing tiny events, but larger hexes are touch based and can actually be lethal - as well as dangerous as they can cause multiple people (including the caster) to be caught in the bad luck.

  • Minor hexes causes a small mishap to befall someone, trip and fall, belt snaps and pants fall down, cord snaps on a bow or crossbow, et cetera.
  • Major hexes cause severe mishaps, such as a chandelier falling on someone, falling upon ones own sword, sink holes forming, et cetera.

  
  Charms
  
  Charms are a variety of minor effects and spells that alter perceptions.
  
  Mirror of Visions : A mirror of visions reflects what the user sees - including illusions, spirits, or hallucinations only visible to that person. It must be cast upon an unbroken mirror.
  
  Glamour Charm : A glamour charm will affect the physical appearance of a creature. This is always purely cosmetic, but can change shape and color. This is always an illusion, though the effect can be permanent if allowed. Less complicated glamour chamrms can sneak by illusion resistance - though disguises or more complicated charms will not.
  
  Emotion Charm : Emotion charms cause strong emotions in those charmed. These emotions can be directed or undirected depending on the complexity of the spell involved.
  
  Memory Charm : A charm to imprint or erase memories in the mind of another.
  
  Possession
  
  Possessions are a type of magic that imbue the spirit of an otherworldly creature into another living entity or object.
  
  Object Possession : Possessing an object gives that object properties that it would not normally have, depending on the spirit used to possess it.

  • Abyssal possessions cause the object to levitate and go berserk. It will attack upon its controllers command until destroyed. Abyssal possessions can not take place on - or cross over onto - holy ground and are destroyed most readily through holy energy. This possession can be maintained until the item is destroyed or exorcized.
    
  • Eldritch possessions cause the object to attract others. Those in possession of the item are infatuated with it and it slowly drives them mad - including vivid dreams of horror and later on waking life hallucinations. Those not in possession of the item will often want the item upon seeing it and this urge grows the more time they view it.

  
  Living Possession : Living possession is the possession of a living creature - often a small animal as it is the easiest, but occasionally a sentient creature.
  

  • Abyssal possession causes the creature to go berserk and fight at the behest of Iocco until slain or exorcized. While possessed the creature gains abnormal strength - which if used can cause injury to the host body.
    
  • Infernal possession causes the creature to gain an aspect of sin - so long as the pact is completed with the devil summoned. Devils do not wish to be summoned into animals and may only wish to inhabit a sentient form.
    • Wrath gives extensive combat knowledge, allowing the use of any mundane weapon and access to tactis, stratagy, et cetera.
      
    • Gluttony gives the possessed knowledge of food - including insight into the diets and edible allergies of others through scrying- as well as potions and other imbibed healing items and even poisons.
      
    • Pride gives the knowledge on how to complete tasks, often complicated, allowing one to complete almost any goal.
      
    • Sloth gives knowledge on the sleeping habits of others and their dreams - the devil scryes for this information.
      
    • Lust gives knowledge on the mating rituals of others, who they are with currently, who they've mated with in the past, et cetera - the devil scryes for this information.
      
    • Envy gives a sense of what others around desire the most - the devil scryes for this information.
      
    • Greed gives knowledge of commerce and trade as well as the value of items, sometimes even identifying rare and magical artifacts.
  • Eldritch possessions create a living avatar of madness and horror. Sentient creatures tend to draw in cults around them who become obsessed with their living god while lesser creatures will feed on the terror of others - striking fear in those who spot them - and often mutating into creatures of dangerous design.

  
  Exorcism : Exorcism is simply - though not particularly simple to perform - removing unwanted spirits from a vessel - whether living or inanimate.

  Spirit Communication
  
  This form of magic simply allows him to view and communicate with spirits. These may be the ghosts of the dead, aspects of various types, hidden gods, or natural elements who hide in the world.
  
  Magic Understanding
  
  With a massive understanding of various languages and magical practices he is capable of reading and casting many forms of dark, ancient, or strange magics.
  
  Summoning and Binding
  
  He may use his abilities to summon or bind demons, spirits, devils, and many types of outsiders through the use of circles. These summons always vary based upon the creature being summoned.
