• Description

  At three feet, five inches tall, Drixis is larger than most kobolds, which he owes to his half dragon heritage. Dark silver scales cover his body and a quartet of horns sweep back on his skull almost like hair. Strong but wiry, much of this kobold is artificial. His legs from an inch above his knees are mechanical in nature, an intricate collection of gears, sprockets, cogs and sheets of metal designed to mimic scaled, digitigrade legs, and his left eye is bolted to his face, a ball of red glass surrounded by a frame of steel and lit from within as it processes data. The scales of his arms and chest are rent and scarred from an accident years ago that left him somber and thoughtful, but most of the time his blue right eye still sparkles with mirth and his muzzle grins with delight.

• Biography

  Among a kobold warren, deviation from societal norms is frowned upon, even punished. At the same time the respect for dragons is paramount and unquestioned. So when Drixis was born, the warren elders were faces with a quandary. It quickly became apparent that the child of one of their draconic patrons was not a normal kobold. Drixis was mischievous, playful, and prone to kleptomania. He took to the kobold arts of trap making like a fish to water, then promptly used them to play tricks on his fellow kobolds. This culminated in him rigged a barrel of water above the door to the high priest of Kurtulmak's quarters. After this event the elders called Drixis to their presence and gave him a most important mission. They wanted him to go out into the world and explore, sending back scouting information and treasure that he found for the warren. Drixis was delighted by being given such an important assignment, and eagerly set out on the morrow. And the elders heaved a sigh of relief.
  
  Out in the world above Drixis was ecstatic. There was so much to see and do and experience, and so many people to be pranked. Elves, dwarves, humans, orc, he pestered them all, learning as he did about what kinds of people had greater or lesser appreciations for his kind of sense of humour and art. It all turned around suddenly and horrifically one day when a trap he had planted to surprise a group of travelling gnomes backfired. The resulting avalanche buried him, and he would have died if the kindly gnomes had not dug him out. They had no clerics among them but as a group of tinkers and engineers they managed to rebuild him, replacing the parts of his body damaged beyond repair and nursing him back to health. Touched by their kindness, Drixis stayed with them for a time, learning more about the mechanical arts while considering the implications. When they parted again he resolved to be more open and less likely to prank everybody he met...waiting to see if they would appreciate such things first!
