  Oz is half human, half some unknown magical race. He looks completely human and only knows he's half something else because of his regenerative powers and his apparent immortality, not to mention the small issue of having magical powers. When he plays the violin, he can raise the dead to do his bidding. It makes it a little awkward to perform in front of people, since he can't stop it from happening.

  His mother was human, but his father left her after discovering she was pregnant with Oz. He discovered he had magical abilities as a small child.
