• Description

  Now living in Hamilton, Ontario, Kekoa works as barista at a local coffeehouse, and also does needlework for extra money. His works typically include intricate designs of ocean waves and tree branches, and he prides himself in how much time he puts into his artwork.
  He owns a small, single-winged canary named Kaipo who he loves to bits, but otherwise lives alone in his rather cramped apartment. He's never been very good with socialization, and doesn't really intend to make any close friends due to his severe issues with trust and people.

• Biography

  Born and raised on the island of Ni'ihau, Hawaii, Puanani Palakiko was brought up by native Hawaiian parents, and had two siblings: a brother older by one year named Makaio, and a brother younger by one year named Pika. Her relationship with the latter and their father was distant at best, and abusive at worse. She shared her abuse with her mother, and when they were left alone Makaio would attempt to tend to their wounds, but couldn't do much to stop any scarring.
  
  Several weeks after Puanani turned 17, her mother managed to stow her away on a helicopter that flew to Kaumakani, and lived on the island of Kauai for several months before managing to catch a plane ride to O'ahu island. Once in Honolulu, she started questioning who she was, and the more she was asked for her name, she'd wonder if she really did want to say that she was called Puanani. After weeks upon weeks of mulling over who she felt she was, she gradually started going by the name of Kekoa, and began to find clothing for herself that made her look more boyish. However, she opted for hiding her hair under her hat, not having the guts to simply chop it all off.
  
  For two years she worked as a janitor in Honolulu, pulling herself up onto her feet so she could work towards truly getting out of her country until, at the age of 20, she had enough money to take a plane from where she was to Vancouver, and for four more years she went through the process of applying for citizenship. Though, that wasn't the only thing she had to dealt with, because once she was in Canada she started learning more about the LGBT+ community, and about her own body and brain, and gathered as much information as she could about these new, intriguing words that she now found she could apply to herself.
  
  And so, at 24 years old, she was granted permanent residency for Canada, and also had her legal name changed from Puanani Palakiko to Kekoa Palakiko, and up to this day lives in Hamilton, Ontario on his own as a transgender male.
